THE MIND

Scripture Reading

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death even the death of the cross.

Psalm 19:7-9 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

Lesson Subject
The core of who we are is what we think. Godly thoughts produce Godly emotions. Your mind controls how you feel about things: positive and negative. God tells us the things that we need to think about: whatsoever is honest, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtue and praise (Philippians 4:8). We have to learn about Christ and spend time with Him. As in any relationship communication is a vital form of getting to know one another; through prayer and meditation on the word of God is our way of learning about God.
Lesson Studies
If any man be in Christ he is a new creature and old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
When we accept Christ as savior we become a brand new person inside, a new life will begin. A renewed person is one who has been changed to the true image of God, who created us. Having a renewed mind requires God to change the way we think from the way we used to be. This transformation begins with the renewing of our minds. We can be transformed to the image of Christ if we will put off everything concerning the old man and allow God to put on the new man.
We need to have the mind of Christ and we must start at the beginning by capturing our thoughts. It is very important what we allow to go into our minds. Godly thoughts produce Godly emotions. Likewise, ungodly thoughts produce ungodly emotions. If we capture and trap our thoughts at the beginning before they settle into our hearts than there will be no damage. If we are focused on God, we will not have time to think about the things that are not pleasing to Him.
The best way to find out how to please God is to spend time with Him. Everyone needs to have a daily quiet time. Our mindset is not the same as the mindset of God. He needs to come first in our lives. By having a daily quiet time, we intentionally give God the position He requires. This allows God to know that you have a desire to establish that relationship with Him.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will for heareth us. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (1 John 5:14-15)
A quiet time is a period of time set aside for prayer and meditation. God tells us not to worry about anything, but to pray about everything. When we pray, we need to pray believing that God is going to give us the desires of our hearts. As we cast our cares on God, He will care for us. God gave us life so that we could have life more abundantly. He is willing to do above all that we can ask or think. All we have to do is ask and we will receive; search and we will find; knock and the doors will be opened for us. God is more than ready to give good things to all who ask. God should be our intimate friend. Prayer needs to become more of a part of our life so that we can draw closer to God.
Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word. Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. (Psalm 119:17-18)
Meditation on the word of God is important because it tells us about Jesus Christ and how we can find eternal life through Him. The word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path and if we memorize the scriptures and talk about them then it is easier for us to obey them. God tells us that he will bless everyone who reads the Bible as well as everyone who hears and obeys it. Christ has shown us Himself in the word and we must remember to take advantage of it daily.
The only way we can make sure that our thoughts are right is to make sure we have put the right thing in our minds. The Bible is the best thing to have in your mind. It is important for us to study to show ourselves approved unto God. We must us the bible to set the standards for our lives. The Bible is the way that God prepares us and makes us fully equipped to do good to everyone. We must meditate on the Bible and give it our full respect. As we obey his instructions we will begin to see the happiness in our lives. We can open our minds and discover the wonderful things of God.
