Psalm 19 Skit

by Sylvia Maltzman
7/23/2013 / Skits and Plays

Cast of Characters:
Children costumed as Sun, Clouds, Moon, Stars

Narrator: The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky shows His handiwork.

[Clouds, Moon and Stars move from Stage Left to Stage Right, dancing and twirling.]

Narrator: Day after day speaks plainly, and night after night shows God's knowledge.

Moon: There are no words or language.

Stars: Our voice is not heard with your ears.

Clouds: But our message goes out over all the earth, and our words to the end of the world.

Narrator: In them, God has set a huge, beautiful tent for the sun.

Sun: Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber to meet his bride, and rejoices like a strong man to run a race.

[Sun emerges from Stage Left just before he speaks, and moves gradually to Stage Right.]

Sun: His going forth is from one end of the earth, and his journey is to the ends of it. And there is nothing hidden from the heat of the sun.

Narrator: Just as the sun is so high and bright, affecting every single part of the earth.

Sun: The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.

Moon: The testimony of the Lord is certain, making wise the simple.

Clouds: The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart.

Stars: The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

Moon: The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever.

Clouds: The judgments of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.

Narrator: More to be desired are they than gold, yes, more than much fine gold. Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Sun: Also, by Your law, testimony, statutes, commandment, holy fear and judgments, your servants are warned. In keeping these, there is great reward.

[During the next few lines, Sun, Moon, Stars and Clouds dance and twirl together at Center Stage.]

Moon: Who can understand his own errors? Cleanse me, Lord, from secret faults.

Stars: Keep us away from the sins that tempt us. Don't let these temptations control us.

Clouds: Then shall we be upright, and innocent from the great transgression.

[All the characters come together with the Sun in the middle.]

All together: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
