The Christian Tree

by Lewis E. Thomas
8/06/2013 / Poetry

Jesus compared the Christian believer to a Fruit Tree
Just what should that mean to you and to me?

That means if you are a Christian you have work to do!
That means God did not save you to just sit on a pew!

Titus 3:8-14 says "Be careful to maintain works that are good!"
So our Tree will produce the fruit that God said it should!

Are you a Good Tree bearing fruit to those in need?
Or is your Tree yielding corrupt fruit like lust and greed?

Does your Tree bear love and compassion to share?
With those that are caught in old Lucifer's Snare?

Is your Tree nourishing to hungry souls lost out in sin?
Or has your fruit been blown away by Carnal winds?

Are you a fruitless Tree that has sank down into Sin's mire?
Then Jesus said you are in danger of eternal fire!

Don't be cursed like the Fig Tree that withered away!
When Jesus found it with no fruit along His way.

Lewis E. Thomas as given by God on 8-2-2013

Matthew 21:19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.
Matthew 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Titus 3:8,14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
Matthew 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Ephesians 2:10 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
2 Timothy 3:17 that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Titus 2:14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
1 Peter 2:12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Note: The UES Once Saved Always Saved Doctrine teaches that a Christian Tree that stops bearing fruit is still blessed with Eternal Salvation! That is not what The Word says. Math 3:10

Note: Good works justify no person from sin. Only faith in the blood atonement of Christ justifies one from sin. But God commands the Christian to produce good works/good fruit! A Christian Tree that does not bear good fruit will be cursed and forever separated from God and in the end be burned. Matthew 3:10

James 2: 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Note: James chapter 2 is a portion of scripture the UES Doctrine folks like to ignore!
Also 2nd Peter 2:20-22 and Hebrews 6:1-6 and Hebrews 10:26-31 they like to ignore. These scriptures do not support their false doctrine.

Proverbs 21:16 Whoever wanders from the way of understanding
will rest in the assembly of the dead.

Note: One had to be in the way of understanding to wonder from it!
