Summer Vacation Slide Show
by Stephen Vattimo
8/24/2013 / Christian Living
This short humorous story was sparked in my imagination by a conversation at a dinner table, which I was invited to by some close friends.
In the conversation, my friend's son's girlfriend had mentioned a church she visited a couple of times, that only showed slide shows, in the place of a sermon on a passage of the Bible.
So from the information I got from the dinner conversation, and drawling from
my witness of false teachers I have seen on Television, I put my imagination to work, to illustrate in words what a typical side show would look like at that church mentioned in the dinner conversation.
The side Show would be Entitled, "Jesus Summer vacation"
Slide 1 : Here is Jesus at a water park, walking on water in the wave pool, saving a kid from drowning, who fell off his raft.
Side 2 : Here is Jesus at a magic show feeding five thousand people with five loaf of bread and two fishes.
Slide 3 : Here is Jesus at the church gambling night, turning over table and stacking chairs , as he help clean up after the event.
Slide 4 : Here is Jesus at His summer job as bouncer at a night club, casting out foul spirit from unruly drunks.
Now thou this was entertaining to write, and over the top, this is a serous problem in what passes as a christian church. In stead of teaching the word of God in true and power of The Holy Spirit, Churches are trying to come up with ways to entertain the people who come through their door,so the church will grow, and draw wealth to fill someone pocket.
With out The teaching of the word of God in true and power of The Holy Spirit, the people who come through your church door will not be save from their destiny of being cast into the lake of fire.
Nor will they learn how to live a victorious live over sin,and avoid the miles and miles of hurt and destruction sin causes.
The Bible tells us in Roman 10 :13-14 ,the word of God is the vehicle to belief, and the preacher has to be anointed by God , and be the vehicle to teach The word of God,in Spirit and truth.
Romans 10: 13-14
13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."f
14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
The preach has to be diligent to teach, and encourage His fellowship to engage personal study of the scriptures, that would put off the thoughts and ways of the world, and take in the thoughts and ways of God,and apply them to their personal way of living.
2 Timothy 3 : 16 - 17
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
My reads, if you are attend a church that does not teach the scripture in spirit and truth, or encourage personal study of the Bible, you should leave that church and look for one that Does. Your personal eternal destiny can be at stake.
If you are teacher or preacher who is handling the word of God carelessly , like a child playing with his father's loaded shot gun. Here is a warning to you.
Mathew 18 :6
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
