What are Seducing Spirits?

by Henry Miranda
8/30/2013 / Christian Living

Seduce is to persuade to disobedience or disloyalty, to lead astray usually by persuasion or false promises, and seduction generally is the process of enticing a reluctant person to lead astray, as from duty, rectitude, or the like; to corrupt.

Seduction originated In Heaven with Lucifer. Before the creation of the world Lucifer was created as a beautiful and magnificent angel to be in charge. God gave him the authority to rule over other angels. Like a chain of command, God would order it, and Lucifer would see to it that it was carried out. But Lucifer became vain in his beauty; and in him grew seeds of deceit, of seduction.

Lucifer was taken over by his own spirit until he actually thought he would exalt himself above the throne of God. He knew the truth, but he wanted to be greater than God; and so he had to convince himself that this was true. The spirit of seduction which originated in Lucifer was used to seduce other angels. (Isaiah 14:1215)

This should tell you that since angels could be seduced, anyone can be seduced if they dont stay in the word of God. The Lord cast every angel seduced by Lucifer out of Heaven. When God created man Satan couldnt wait for the opportunity to seduce him into not believing God. He waited until he was created, and seduction began in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:13). The serpent used seduction. God said not to eat, not to touch, but the serpent found a way to discredit the words of God
.
Eve risked her eternal soul by listening to the serpent. She knew what God had said; in fact, she repeated it to the serpent. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die (Genesis 3:4). I wont? Eve began to wonder. The snake seemed harmless and convincing. She talked to the serpent not realizing that she was talking to the devil. Had the devil appeared to her as he really was, she would have run away. But the serpent was beautiful, fascinating, and he had her attention. The serpent continued: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:5). The devil used halftruths to give the impression he had new secret information. I know the truth, he was saying. God has misled you; He is holding back facts you should know. This is the way the occult and the cults operate, using halftruths to alter the truth through seductive spirits.

We can only speculate as to how he Seduced one-third of the angels into following him. Lucifer was called the devil, Satan, and prince of this world after He rebelled against God.

In first Timothy 4:1-2 it speaks about falling away from the faith and warns us to be aware of seducing spirits and the doctrines of demons. Christians need to know about seducing spirits. The Bible is very explicit and makes many references to false teachers. The ones that are weak in their faith become the targets of seducing spirits. We must be in the word daily so as not to allow wrong teaching to come into our minds.
Seducing spirits are so cunning that they often deceive strong Christians.
Seducing spirits are everywhere with their forces and influences. Seducing spirits work in cooperation with the devil and they can be so deceptive. If you are not careful they can lead you into evil desires.

Seducing spirits work best through false teachers by working with their mind. If the teacher is not rooted deeply in the word of God he may be swayed away from the proper understanding of the word of God by the seducing spirits. Christians that are weak in their faith, and chase after their dreams, desire, materialistic things, and conform to this world can easily fall prey to seductive spirits which may lead to temptations.

We need to stay in the Spirit because there are false teachers that are so good at talking and pick and choose scripture enough to make you believe they are right. If we are not in the word daily we can easy be led astray. Something can sound so good but it may lead you astray.

Anything that contradicts the Word of God is ultimately a teaching from demons. Seducing spirits mix their teachings with a person's own reasoning. The way they deceive a person is through the mind. The seducing spirits deceive by reasoning without sufficient data and puts lies in the mind by false reasoning. Scripture can be taken out of context and twisted. Sentences are taken from their correlative meanings, and texts are picked out to make it appear to be the mind of God.

We can become open to these spirits when we believe our teachers and pastors and not on the truth of the Scriptures. All believers must test all teaching, all teachers, and pastors because good men can be deceived and seducing spirits use good men to transmit lies under the guise of truth.

Some teachings of seducing spirits can be identified by their weakening of the authority of scripture, distorting the teaching of scripture, addings man's thoughts to the scriptures and putting the scriptures aside entirely. All thoughts, beliefs, and teachings must be tested by the truth of God's word.
2 Tim.3: 13, 14

The seducing spirits are always ready to deliver a stream of poison into a stream of truth. The chief avenue of the seducing spirits is the mind. We must do as (2 Cor.10:5) say's: "bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." we have to be constantly on guard against false teaching
