Heaven For Me?

Often when the subject of Heaven comes up in a conservation I sometimes ask what they think about Heaven and if they will be going there. The common reply is; Sure I am going to Heaven. I believe in God, I have been a good person and I have not committed any major crimes.

Yes, you sound like a wonderful person but there are some things you must do in order to be saved and have an eternal home in Heaven. The Bible tells us there is only one way to Heaven in John 14:6, " Jesus said, " I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

We see in Roman's 3:23, " For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." However, God still loves us we read in John 3:16, " For God so loved the world. that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have have everlasting life."

Christ died for our sins, he was buried and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures and our Lord with just three nails and two pieces of wood built us a bridge to Heaven. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." 1 Cor, 15: 3-4.

So we see that just believing in God, and being a good person, and staying of out trouble does not give us eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ whom sits at the right hand of His Father God in Heaven. Our Lord Jesus says in John 1:12, " But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name,"

Wow, just think no matter how well we treat our physical body here on earth, with the best of foods, medical care and safe living we will someday lay our body in the grave. But our Lord says to absent from the physical body is to be with the Lord in Heaven. What a wonderful day that will be in Heaven for eternity, with our best Friend who loved us first before we repented of our sins and asked him to come into our lives.

Trust we will all be in the church of our choice this Sunday, singing and worshiping our most gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
