Woe Unto Thee, Writers Three!
by Caitlynn Lowe
6/18/2007 / Poetry

Woe unto thee,
You writers three,
With blocks lodged in your minds.
Your hands--they shake--
No thoughts awake,
As inspiration you cannot find.

You toss and turn,
Your heart does churn,
And each of you loses sleep.
Creativity runs dry,
Tears well in your eyes,
Yet your pen will not utter a peep.

Then one morning
Without any warning
Your number reduces to two.
A dream has inspired--
In the dreaded waste-mire--
Writer One to bid adieu.

As evening passes
Time creeps like molasses.
Then Writer Two jumps up with a scream!
Companionship halts,
The new duo defaults,
When writer's block splits at its seams.

Then there was one
Having no fun
As his soul plunged into torment.
"Woe to me,
For I have no glee,"
He said, and began to lament.

"Juices stopped flowing,
No seeds to be sowing,
Truly I am most depressed.
My world will not spin,
My heart won't beat again,
Oh, my mind feels so suppressed!"

Then sudden realization,
Rampant imagination,
And Writer Three's pen began to fly.
Borne there was a poet
(He didn't even know it!)
From his woeful--yet rhyming--sighs.

No woe unto thee,
You writers three,
For your personal peace you have found.
You scribble away,
Both night and day;
May your writing on paper abound!
