No Thirst In The Desert When Led By God Almighty

by Ngozi Nwoke

Do you feel led into wilderness by God? Are you afraid of obeying God because of the desert ahead of you? I have good news for you; the Lord who made the dry places knows how to bring out water from them. This article is to encourage you to walk with God through the desert without fear.

They thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. (Isaiah 48:21 KJV)

And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot. (Deuteronomy 29:5, KJV)

And he said unto them, when I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, nothing. (Luke 22:35 KJV)

Many people desire to fulfill the plan of God for their lives but they are afraid of stepping out of their comfort zones. The desert or wilderness life they foresee is scaring them away from God's perfect plan for them. They see a life with little or no provisions, uncivilized conditions and a life of solitude; and they struggle with the uncertainty of tomorrow.

If you are in such a state and you walk uprightly, relax for when you are led by God you will lack no good thing - Psalm 84:11. God will never send you without providing for you - Philippians 4:19. He will never leave you nor forsake you - Hebrews 13:5. He will always go before you and make the crooked places straight - Isaiah 45:2

When God led the Israelites through the desert, they had food and water in abundance. He provided these from unimaginable sources: water from a rock, wind blowing in quails and manna descending from heaven; amazing I must say!

Furthermore, when God led the Israelites for forty years in the wilderness, their clothes and shoes did not wear out! Also, when Jesus sent His disciples out to go and preach the gospel, they went with nothing and they lacked nothing.

Your God is not a wicked father, He can't own the whole world and refuse to give you the little good things you Him ask for - Matthew 7:11. Also the scriptures say that if you delight yourself in the Lord He will grant you the desires of your heart - Psalm 37:4, no matter the desert or wilderness life before you.

All you need to do is to take a step of faith in obedience to God's leading and leave Him to cater for your needs. Even in the face of impossibilities, God is able to make a way out, for with God nothing is impossible - Mark 10:27. You will not thirst when you are led by God.

Now, there is always a testing time which you must pass. You have to prove to God that you are with Him all the way. Remember the three Hebrew boys, they said that God would deliver them but if He chooses not to they would still not bow to the king's gods. God didn't deliver them before they were thrown into the fiery burning furnace. He waited for them inside the furnace before delivering them - Daniel 3:16-27.

I followed my husband to all the places God took him to after our wedding and the Lord proved Himself faithful the entire time. I have been to a country where we didn't have electricity for eighteen months in our house and we fetched water from a well, but God provided many other things for us. After that time, God took us to a place in another country where we had electricity and water from taps twenty-four hours, seven days in a week for almost six years.

Another time, we needed money even for food for a short period but God provided cooked food for us throughout the time. Now, God has changed our story completely. But if we are to go through all those again, I will gladly do so as long as God is leading us. He truly goes ahead of us when He sends us, to prepare the way for us, even if it is a desert or wilderness life. He is too faithful to fail.

Therefore, if you are struggling within yourself whether you should obey God or not, I encourage you to take a step of faith in obedience to God's leading and allow tomorrow to take care of itself - Matthew 6:34

Matthew 6:31-33 tells you not to take thought of what to eat, drink or wear because your heavenly Father knows that you have need of these things. Instead, you should seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you. Surely, there is no thirst in the desert when you are led by God.
