Praying Through the Scriptures - John 7

by
6/20/2007 / Prayers

O God, why do we seem to have such difficulty recognizing the greatness in those closest to us? I would like to think that if I were in Jesus human family I would believe in him, but I suspect I would also be one who didnt believe. Thank you, Father, for drawing me to Jesus and helping me see, hear, understand, and believe.

Lord, the works of this world are indeed evil. Lord, if I am to truly follow you, I must also testify that the works of this world are evil. Help me to withstand the hatred that will result from such testimony.

Guide me, please, Father, and help me to discern the proper time for doing something in public and doing it in private.

Thank you, Father, for showing me that Jesus is not a liar or a lunatic, but is indeed your Son, my Lord.

Help me, O God, never to shrink from speaking of Jesus, but to discern the proper time and place to do so.

Father, I do desire to do your will. Thank you for showing me that Jesus teaching is true and from you. Help me to also speak from you and to seek your glory rather than mine.

Help me, O God, to judge correctly, based on truth, not appearances.

O Lord Jesus, to know your Father, that is what I want. Thank you for revealing him to me. Help me to understand more of that revelation each day as I follow you.

Lord, the multitudes did not understand that you were returning to your Father. I have the benefit of having the New Testament to enlighten me about many aspects of your life on earth. Yet, there is much I do not understand. I do know, though, that someday I will be with you and see you. Hallelujah!

Lord, I drink a lot of water to quench the thirst of my physical body. Thank you for providing the living water that quenches the thirst of my spirit. Let the rivers of living water flow from me so that all those around me may be drawn to you, the source of the living water.

I wholeheartedly agree with the officers. No man ever spoke like you, Lord. They didnt understand who you were, but they recognized the greatness of your words. As I tell others about you, Lord, help them to recognize not only the magnificence of your words, but your magnificence as the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Father, how blind the Pharisees were, but I was blind once, too. Thank you for opening my eyes and allowing me to see the Truth. Help me to share the truth of Jesus Christ with others.

In his name I pray. Amen.
