Ecclesiastes 1 Nothing new how boring?

by Mark E Crossley
7/01/2007 / Bible Studies

When I read the words of the scripture highlighted below there is lots of comfort yet many unanswered questions found in these two verses knowing that whatever plan God has for me there is an answer to the problems we face.

If there is nothing new then someone has been where we are and come out the other side on top, that's what it suggests anyway so how encouraging.

Ecclesiastes 1 v 9 11 "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow".

I want to share with you some of my life's journey the last 5 years I have had very bad depression, since spending a year abroad most of my friends have moved away & found life partners, I have had jobs where they have not lasted for more than 6 months and had no stability in my life whatsoever and therefore I have not handled things well and wonder why?

I am sure I am not the only one that has experienced some of these difficult life situations but all I and others can do is take comfort there will be different people that may share the same or similar problems and circumstances and there will be people that come across my path and vice versa.

"A problem shared is a problem halved" and my hearts plea is that in the days to come people will take more of an interest in other people and help people with life issues and that no one is left out.

There is enough of Gods resources to enable people to grow as people and I pray the church will take more responsibility and ownership of this that will affect the nations in such a way people will know God is intensely moving in the lives of people again.

There may not be anything new in the world such as new technologies or community developments as a whole but on an individual level there are new opportunities we face and need to tackle our fears to which we can get support.

What issues face you today friends and are they solvable?
Do you wish you could undo something that has happened or have a mentor that could help you move forward in a certain area?
Does this mean that we should be complacent or stale in our lifestyle?
If you start a business don't you find it frustrating when someone has got the name before you have or has obtained a personal number plate on a car etc.
Is life really one continuous cycle as the scriptures suggest and does that reflect your life?

We are all unique and not all will share the same circumstances but what the above scripture is referring to is that Jesus knows what will happen in our own lives and what will happen in the world, HE knows how to overcome, to heal, restore, forgive, repent and often I wonder that if there is nothing new then surely our Maker would intervene in my life however sometimes the mistakes we make have consequences and something's will never be restored and that in itself brings a whole lot of issues. Sound familiar?

Sometimes all we can take is pray, hope and wait for divine appointments to happen and that whatever has our name on it will happen in Gods timing not ours and we will be refreshed in the Lord.

Lord Jesus let us not get stale whatever our age or wherever we are on our life's journey be with us, keep us safe, open up new opportunities, be encouraged that God and others have been before us and there will be divine spiritual opportunities that will arise in the days to come to which will stir and strengthen our hearts for the Glory of God. Amen.
