"Prove It!"

by Steve Countryman
6/30/2014 / Christian Living

Ephesians 4:1-6 "1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

It does come down to how you live your life as a Christian. Not just on Sundays but everyday. Is your daily life a testimony to your God's goodness and blessings in your life or do you "look" like the world? It's like that question you have probably heard before. "If you were put on trial for being a Christian, would they have enough evidence to convict you?" Being a "pew sitter" isn't enough proof! Having a Christian bumper sticker isn't enough proof! If you went around telling everyone you met that you are a Christian, that still wouldn't be enough proof! The overwhelming evidence found in your life to convict you is your FRUIT. What have you done, said, lived, shared or given that proves you're a Christian? It is one of my concerns. Would there be enough evidence in my life to convict me? I want to believe so but I think that I too often fall short.

Being a caring and loving Christian should be natural to us in our daily lives. It should be part of our character because it is part of God's character. Jesus didn't ignore anyone who came to Him to be delivered and neither should we! I am amazed how a total stranger will tell you their problems if you will just listen. Too often we offer them our sympathy instead of offering them Jesus! It should be second nature for us to respond to a need when it is presented to us. Not to ignore them because it requires us to move out of our comfort zone. Not to turn away because we are too busy to spare a few minutes. Not to judge them as being worthy of our effort. Not to fear what others might think of us. Not to assume they don't want anyone's help. Not to pray and declare over them because of lack of experience. But most of all don't do nothing and prove that you are not a caring and loving Christian.

Philippians 2:14 & 15 14 "Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." This phrase came to me in prayer the other morning, "prove it"! We are His children when we are around others and when we are all alone. When you are a Christian everyone watches what you do and say. They are ALWAYS looking for the difference in you and what makes your God so special. If our daily lives don't reflect God's love to others then it is time that we need to PROVE that we are Christians and children of the Most High God!
