Praying Through the Scriptures - John 9

Lord Jesus, thank you for making it clear that when I get sick, it isnt necessarily because I have sinned. Sometimes, it is so that the works of God will be shown in me. Help me to recognize when that is the case and to joyfully cooperate in letting his works be seen in me. When that is not the purpose of my illness, help me to know that, too. Help me to discern whether my illness is due to my own sin or is simply a consequence of living in a fallen world. If it is because of my sin, help me to repent and turn back to you. In all cases, Lord, please heal me in accordance with the Fathers will.

Heavenly Father, help me to see beyond the legalism and traditions of religion to see the relationship of Christianity: the intimate, personal relationship with you that comes to us through your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me, please, to spend the necessary time studying your Word, sitting expectantly before you, and conversing with you that is required to build that relationship.

O Father, I know Jesus is your Son, but there is much I dont know or understand about you, about him, or about your Holy Spirit. I do know that I was spiritually blind and now I see! Thank you, Father, for sending Jesus to save me and for opening my eyes to see that reality.

Father, help me never to be so hard-hearted or closed-minded that I cannot learn more of Jesus. For in learning of him, I learn of you.

God, I believe, too! Help me to always worship you in spirit and in truth.

Thank you, Father, for opening my eyes to see the salvation you offered me through Jesus. Thank you for drawing me to him, for prompting me, through your Holy Spirit to receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and for helping me to follow Jesus. Please continue to be with me and help me to follow him always, for I know he leads me to you!

In Jesus precious name I pray. Amen.
