ABCs of Salvation

by Joy Chiasson
8/16/2014 / Salvation

This was put on my mind early this morning. So, I will try to make this easy to understand. You are welcome to copy, download, and share with those that might want something handy to share with a friend that is asking about Jesus.

Acknowledge you need Him.

Romans: 3:23 - "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."

So, let's say you want to get to the other mountain but there is a great valley. God is on the other mountain. And you try and jump to the other mountain and you fall. Because, you are doing it by your way. God can not be reached without the Holy Spirit leading you to Jesus.

Believe in what He did for you.

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death(eternal separation from God), but, the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

If you realize that there is no way you could get to God by your own way and you have acknowledged that you need HIm, then there is a gift you can have just for the asking. Now, we know you don't earn a gift. You don't buy a gift for yourself either. You just reach out and receive it.

It is given to you through LOVE. God is pure and perfect LOVE. He will never love you less than He does right now. He loves you so much that He sent His Son to die with all the sins of this whole world on Him. He loves you so much God turned His back so that Jesus could do this just for all mankind. He loves you so much that His Son Jesus, rose again and conquered death and the grave. He loves you so much that His Son Jesus, is your lawyer when you do commit sins and will stand up for you and say it is finished.

Confess Your sins.

1 John 1:9- "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

When you have believed what Jesus did for you. This is the time to realize that you have sinned and to tell Jesus that you know you have sinned. You will then, ask forgiveness of God for those sins. And any time that the old desires and ways that are sin come back you are able to ask forgiveness and He will look back to the cross and cleanse you of those sins.

Ask Him into your heart.

Romans 10:9,10 - " That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

After, you have asked forgiveness of your sins, you will want to ask Jesus to come into your life and make you a new creation. You slate is clean. You start over now with our Lord and Saviour Jesus at the helm. He sends you the Holy Spirit to dwell with you to guide, teach, and to comfort you. You now belong to God and He will care for you as His own son or daughter. You will never be alone again. He will never turn His back on you for He loves you and has adopted you.

Belong to Him completely.

Luke 10:27- "And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."

Here are some areas of you that you can learn to turn over completely to God. They are your heart, your soul, and your strength. You probably, will feel like you are doing this or you might think that you just say a prayer and that is it - Heaven. The heart is where the change comes from. You will grow from being born again and the Holy Spirit will guide you to willingly change your desires and wants to what your new Father wants.

Confess to others

Matthew 10:32-" Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven."

So, after you have surrendered your will because you want to, not because you have to. You will know to share your story of salvation with others. All you have to do is tell others that God is love and tell them how God brought you into His family. Someone, will be there to help you figure out anything you would have questions on as you grow in Christ. Just ask the person that led you to the Lord or contact one of the Christian ministries in your area. If you are still having trouble finding someone to help find us and we will help you get some good Christian people around you.
