As strange as it may seem

Statisticians will tell us that an average of at least 170 000 people die every 24 hours while 390 000 are born. Those that die will have two things in common.

The first thing they'll have in common is the fact that they will still be fully conscious, having lost only their physical bodies. All of their faculties will still be intact, as if they have never died. However, they will be fully cut off from the physical world they left behind. This is where the second common factor comes into play.

longer having any ties with the world means that, suddenly, they will have shed all of their worldly interests and responsibilities. No more working, mortgage or car payments, grocery shopping and sporting activities. No more sitting in front of the television watching news, sport, movies, sitcoms, reality shows and answering phone calls. No more get-togethers with family and friends and spending hours on the internet. No more voting for political candidates and debating about world affairs.

Only those that are homeless in this world come close to being without all these things, but they are still in control and in a position to bring about change in their lives and be as worldly as everyone else.

Those who die every day are split into two groups a minority and majority. The minority group goes on to enjoy a blissful spiritual existence without the need or desire for any of the worldly things mentioned above. They knew, beforehand, what their destination would be.

There is a coming Judgement (which is virtually upon us) when God will destroy everything on this planet, including every man-made structure (houses and buildings of every kind) by fire, earthquakes and other means, bringing all human activities to an abrupt end. Take another look at the list of things in the third paragraph. They will never, ever, exist again. There will be a brand-new heaven and earth and the latter will never be inhabited by the "normal" kind of human being again.

Many are under the impression that there will be a 1 000-year period, known as the New Millennium, immediately following the Judgement and that the earth will still be populated by people and nations that have survived the Judgement, but this is a misinterpretation of Revelation 20.

The new heavens and earth are for the resurrected saints only and all worldly things will have passed away. Believers will have new, glorious, spiritual bodies, just like that of Christ and be wherever they want to be and eat whatever they want to eat, all generated by mere thought. Time as we know it will have ceased to exist. It will be God's time which is no time and a very, very happy no time.

It is absolutely clear that that the current world and the lifestyles of those who love the world will pass away completely. "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." (1 John 2:15-17)

Those who love the world and the ways thereof are considered to be enemies of God. "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." (James 4:4)

Man, orchestrated by Satan, has used his God-given creative talent to turn this world into a den of iniquity. God never intended it to be this way. That's why He is going to lay it to waste, renew it and hand it over to His children.

The redeemed of the Lord presently living in this world are only here to complete their mission and that is to convert the lost and to ensure that as many as possible accompany them to the New Jerusalem within the new heaven and earth in which they will abide forever and from where the expanses of the Universe will only be a thought away.

Strange, isn't it, that the world and everything in it has been and still is an utter waste of human time. It should be a very sobering thought, indeed, for all those who love basking in the fleshly pleasures thereof while scoffing at those trying to convince them otherwise.
