IT IS WRITTEN!

by Tesh Njokanma
9/10/2014 / Christian Living

The first time the devil showed up in scripture, he asked about what God had said. "Did God really say, "You must not eat from any tree in the garden?" (Genesis 3:1). The devil is very particular about what God has said. Basically because he knows that anyone who knows what God has said, believes what God has said, holds firmly to what God has said, defeats and knocks him down. This was what happened when he tempted Jesus. Jesus knew what God had said, believed without a shadow of doubt; believed with unflinching faith every word God had said and was firmly holding on to what God had said. Over and over again, he told Satan to his face "It is written" (Matthew 4:1-11).

We need to know what is written for therein lies our victory. You need to know what is written so whenever the devil shows his ugly face in your marriage, children, health, finances, or ministry, you can look the devil eye ball to eye ball and tell him get thee behind me; get out of my sight, get out of my way, get out of my life.

What is written carries more weight, power and recognition than we tend to accord it. Now, I don't mean what is written in the newspapers, the top bestsellers, the greatest novels and classics of our times which many read with rapt attention. I'm talking about what is written in the Word of God. What God has written is timeless (Psalm 119:89, John 1:1, Mark 13:31). It is lasting, enduring and unchanging. It is suitable and applicable to all cases, all peoples, all times.

What God has written in scripture or in the Bible can bring light out of thick darkness (Genesis 3:1-3). It can break to pieces the hardest of rocks; the toughest of people or problems (Jeremiah 23:29). It moves with great speed and velocity (Psalm 147:15). In an instant, it can turn things around; it can calm the winds and furious storms in your life (Luke 8:24). It is sweeter than honey (Psalm 19:10). It can bring sweetness to the most bitter and hopeless situation. It is much more precious than gold (Psalm 19:10). It certainly isn't as expensive as your 24 carat gold ring or wrist watch, but it is of much more value. Your gold can be stolen but if you have God's word engrafted in your heart, no one, no situation can ever steal it from you.

You need to know what is written because what is written is the whole and absolute truth. The truth is what is written not what is happening in your life today. Believe what is written not what you can see, not your circumstance (John 8:32).

If it is written, you can be rest assured that it will surely come to pass. It may delay, it may not happen when you want it to, but that thing that is written; that promise of healing, deliverance, protection and provision, will surely be fulfilled in your life (Isaiah 54:11).

If it is written, then the matter is settled (Psalm 119:89). If He has written that you shall live and not die (Psalm 118:17), then even if the doctors have told you that you have just two days to live, what is settled, what is sure, what is real, what is true is what He has written not what the doctors are saying. Question your circumstance not what is written. Don't question what is written, accept what is written and make it your confession.

So let me ask, do you know what is written?
