Young Girl's Wagon Train Dream is for the Birds

A group of elementary school students returned to classes after the conclusion of their summer vacation.

During recess one afternoon, several students discussed the vibrant colors of the world's birds. "My favorite bird color is black," offered Clay. "Nothing is as beautiful as a big black bird soaring high above the trees.

"Yellow is my favorite bird color," said Chip. "A bright yellow canary helps me to think about the sun that shines overhead. It also reminds me of God's Son, Jesus, who shines the light of God's truth upon our lives."

"White is my favorite bird color," said Cranston. "Noah released a dove from the ark to see if the flood waters had receded."

"Red is my favorite bird color," said Charles. "Red reminds me of the blood Jesus shed on the Cross when He died to forgive all my sins."

Claire told her friends about a recent dream. "It was a very exciting dream, and all of you were in it," Claire said.

"Please tell us about the dream," said Clarissa.

"Well, we were back in the days of the Old West," said Claire. "Each of us had a wagon, and we were on our way to California to start our own community where we could study about many bird species."

Carla, who loved horses almost as much as she loved birds, asked, "Were the horses beautiful that were pulling the wagons?"

Claire's response surprised Carla. "Oh, horses didn't pull the wagons," Claire smiled. "We had special birds for that. Flying through the air in the covered wagons was so much fun!"

"Birds!," exclaimed an astonished Clarissa. "I've never heard of birds pulling covered wagons!"

"These birds were as big as horses," said Claire.

Claire told Clay the bird pulling his wagon was the most handsome black avian she had ever seen. Turning to Chip, Claire said, "The yellow bird that pulled your wagon was almost as bright as the sun," she said.

"Kinda like solid gold, huh?," Chip asked.

"Pure gold," said Claire. "In fact, Pure Gold was her name."

Claire told Cranston his bird was the whitest white she had ever seen. "I imagined that it was almost as white as any white we would see in heaven," she said.

Claire says the bird pulling Charles' wagon was a rich red color. "Seems as if he was a bit proud," said Charles.

"Well, his name was Pride," said Claire.

"What color was your bird, Claire?," asked Chip.

"She was a solid blue. It reminded me of the peace of God."

"Who was the wagon master?," asked Cranston.

"I was," replied Claire.

"Who appointed you?," asked Cranston.

"I did," grinned Claire. "Since it was my dream, I decided to make an executive decision!"
