What Do You Choose?

by Steve Countryman
9/25/2014 / Christian Living

Yes it is as basic as the old question"Is the glass half full or half empty?" Both descriptions are correct but how do you view the glass? You choose to see it one way or the other. The pessimist sees it as half empty while the optimist sees it as half full. The same can be said of us Christians. Do you see your problems, trials and tribulations as a set back, a defeat, a loss, a prison, a trap, a losing battle, something that has conquered you or made you a victim? Or do you choose to see them as heavenly opportunities to become stronger, victorious, a conquer, more knowledgeable and wiser, a new testimony and a opportunity to brag on your God who delivered you?

So what do you choose? "Living a daily life worthy of your calling" means that you walk in His will and His ways. This is the third writing of this series. The first one was "I Have Jesus" http://articles.faithwriters.com/reprint-article-details.php?article=30216 , the second one was "My Reality" http://articles.faithwriters.com/reprint-article-details.php?article=30266 . They all have to do with your perception of who lives in you. "Who Christ is in you and who you are in Christ." If you have Jesus and you make Him your reality then your daily walk is a walk of faith led by the Holy Spirit. Every time something happens, you choose to see it from a heavenly perspective. That sickness that has been nagging at you is not the end of you. It is what your God is delivering you from! And that financial burden that you have been under, it will not destroy you for your God is putting you over. Your faith is alive and active in you!

Every time a problem exalts itself in my mind as a HUGE problem, I have to remind myself often why I am here. I am here not just to survive or get by. I am here to be victorious. I am here to succeed. I am here to be an over-comer. I am here to be more than a conquer. I am here "to be in good health and to prosper as my soul prospers". I am here to be a blessing to others and bring glory to my God. This is how I choose to live my life with Jesus.

God didn't put you here to fail. He didn't put you here to be a victim. God didn't put you here to "go with the flow". God didn't put you here to be a door mat. He didn't put you here to be an addict. God didn't put you here to be stuck in your past. He didn't put you here to act like the world and complain about everything. God did not choose you to be a failure. He did not choose you to squeak by or be abused. God did not choose you to fall down and stay down. God didn't put you here to be a powerless and worthless Christian.

God put you here to be victorious. He put you here to be an over comer. God put you here to influence your surroundings for His kingdom. He put you here to impact the world and bring Him glory! God chose you before time began for this place and for this time. He chose you to be His kingdom representative here on earth. He chose you to shine His love to the lost everywhere you go. He chose you to be His arms, hands, feet and mouth here on earth. He chose you to work awesome powerful miracles and wonders through. He chose you to guide and point others to Christ.

When you walk in God's will you have no need to ever be afraid. The Bible says 365 times "do not be afraid', one for every day of the year. In 1 Kings 18-19 that's where Elijah missed his reality with God. When Jezebel sent that message to him about killing him, Elijah was afraid and ran off. God didn't send him away to hide. In fact God took Elijah to a mountain to remind him who God was. He then gave Elijah specific instructions on what to do, God's will for Elijah. While Elijah was completing that list the Bible never mentions any of Jezebel's soldiers chasing Elijah down. That's because Elijah was in God's perfect will and under God's provision and protection.

So what do you choose to live your life by, worldly wisdom and influence? By what science dictates though it often changes? By today's standards and situational ethics? Do you choose to view your "glass of water" in your life as half full or half empty? Do people see you as a Christian who has the peace of God? Do they see you as a Christian who finds rest in their God while the world panics? Do they see a Christian who is shining their God's love and peace to everyone everywhere they go? Or do they see someone who claims to be a Christian but complains about everything and everyone? Do they see you as a fearful Christian who is frightened of world events and can't wait for Christ's return?

Do others see you and say I want to know the God you know? Do they see you as someone who knows someone who has all the answers? Do they see you as a living testimony to the awesome God you serve? If not, why not? If you have Jesus and if He is your reality then how you choose to live your life should reflect the One who lives it in you!
