The Lost Son

Wealthy and generous is he, this I know full well
I'll ask for my portion, never been denied anything
Need to go far away, here I won't dwell
Get early inheritance, now that's the thing!

Watch out little world, here I draw unto thee!
What's to see? What's to eat? What's do?
A child of affluence, that's me
Heartbeat of the party, let what may ensue

Emptiness strikes, that didn't happen
I can't be broke, what a shame!
This lack and deficiency, life's misshapen
Find work to do, then go back to the same

Hunger, starvation and famine, yet the swine feeds
My right mind speaks, return home I must
Compassionate is he, yet embarrassing are my deeds
Please let me work for you, my speech to win his trust

Daily watching and waiting, today it pays off
The lost son's coming home, this is the day
There in the distant, seen from afar off
Arms of compassion, meet him on the way

Tears of forgiveness, mercy and grace!
Prepare a giant feast, we're in celebration!
No more dishonor, there's joy in this place!
He was lost but now he's back, reason for jubilation!

Luke 15:11-32 is a wonderful picture of God's grace. If you are like me, who was once lost but now has been found, then we have a reason to rejoice.
