LECTURE 3: SANCTIFICATION
1. WHAT SANCTIFICATION IS
It is setting apart someone or something for a holy use (2Tim 2:19-21, Jn 10:36, Is 52:11,NIV, Ex 19:22).

2. SEVEN THINGS YOU MUST UNDERSTAND ABOUT SANCTIFICATION
i. Your sanctification is God's will (1Thes 4:1-8,NIV).

ii. Sanctification is not a definite second work of grace but a daily progressive (gradual) work of grace (Acts 19:2-6, Acts 2:38, Acts 10:43-48, Ro 12:2 ).

iii. There are three dimensions (aspects) of sanctification (1Thes 5:23).

iv. While the new birth is your passport to heaven, sanctification is your visa there (Heb12:14, 1Cor 6:9-10,NIV, Mat 7:21-23, NIV, Mat 24:11-13, 2Pet 3:11,14,NIV, 1Jn 3:2-3,NIV Rev 3:5, Rev 21:27).

v. Sanctification involves a change from inside out, not the other way round (Mat 23:25-28,NIV).

vi. Walking in righteousness consciousness leads to genuine holiness or sanctification (Ro 6:19,NIV Eph 6:14).

vii. Get sanctified through the word and prayer on a daily basis
a. THE WORD (Eph 5:25-27, Jn 15:3, Ps 119:9-11)
b. PRAYER (Jam 5:16, AMP)
1. Prayer of petition (Jn 17:17, 1Thes 5:23,AMP)

2. Prayer of authority (Mk 16:17, Is 52:2)

3. Prayer of agreement (Deut 32:30, Eccl 4:9)

3. SANCTIFICATION AND HEAVEN
i. You cannot be heaven-conscious and heaven-focused until and unless you prioritize the focus of your mind on heaven or the kingdom of heaven (Col 3:1-2AMP, Living Bible, Mat 6:31-32, NLT, 33, AMP).

ii. If you don't make heaven your first priority, then whatever you prioritize above it will certainly hinder you from getting there (Lk 13:23-28, 30, Living Bible).

iii. You cannot fully enforce heaven's will on earth until and unless your mind is set on heaven (Mat 6:10, Mat 26:39, Heb 11:10, 13-16, Living Bible)
Someone noted, "To make the most of your time on earth, always keep heaven in mind."

iv. If your greatest joy on earth is not the hope of heaven but rather victory over demons; financial, material, ministerial, marital or academic breakthrough, then something is seriously wrong somewhere (Lk 10:17, 20, Living Bible, Mat 7:21-23, Living Bible).

v. You cannot lay up treasures on earth and expect your heart to be focused on heaven because your follows your treasure (Mat 6:19-21,AMP, Mk 10:21, Lk 12:15,15,20,21,NLT) .
"Yes, every man is a fool who gets rich on earth but not in heaven" [Lk 12:21, Living Bible].
vi. Every believer should think more on, study more about, listen more to messages on, and talk more about heaven (Ps 119:130, Ro 10:17)
David McCasland wrote, "Even the most knowledgeable theologian knows little of that marvelous place the Bible call heaven."

vii. There is no purgatory where the spirit of the dead are sent to suffer for their sin before going to heaven (Hos 4:6)

RECOMMENDED BOOKS/MATERIALS: 1. Becoming More Like Jesus → Gbile Akanni 2. Purpose Driven Life → Rick Warren 3. Sanctification: Changing From Inside Out → Segun Olumide.

LECTURE 5: SPIRITUAL WARFARE
Jesus fought the battle and won; but we are to fight warfare to enforce and enjoy His victory and demonstrate Satan's defeat. So there is no more BATTLE for us to fight, rather there is only WAR for us to make. That's why the specific BATTLE the New Testament talks about is still in future (Rev 16:14; Rev 20:8).
On the other hand, the New Testament emphasizes spiritual war, warfare or fight of faith (1Tim 1:18, 2Cor 10:4, 1 Tim 6:12).
1. SEVEN THINGS YOU MUST UNDERSTAND ABOUT SPIRITUAL WARFARE
i. You must put on divine strength through fellowship with God and by leaning on [trusting in] HIM (Eph 6:10).

ii. Our fight is not against human beings but against evil spirits (Eph 6:12).

iii. The devil and demons are already DISARMED, DISGRACED AND DEFEATED (Col 2:15).

iv. You are not to try to defeat the devil and his cohorts but rather to demonstrate their defeat and enforce your victory (1 Jn 4:4; 1 Jn 5:4, Ro 8:31,37).

v. Your greatest enemy is not the devil but the flesh and it must BE KEPT UNDER AND SUBJECTED (1Cor 9:26-27, Gal 5:16-17, Ro 7:15-25).

vi. You must identify the regular strategy or common pattern of attack the devil uses specifically against you (Eph 6:11, 2Cor 2:11).

vii. You must put on the COMPLETE ARMOUR OF GOD so that you can STAND YOUR GROUND without falling into temptation to sin by WATCHING and PRAYING (Eph 6:11, 13, Eph 6:18-20,KJV,NIV, Mt 26:41, 1Pet 5:8-9, Judg 7:5-7).

2. TEN THINGS TOU MUST UNDERSTAND ABOUT BELIEVER'S AUTHORITY
i. The believer's authority is from the Greek word "exousia," which means delegated power or delegated influence (Lk 10:19).

ii. All authority in heaven and on earth was given to Jesus while no authority was given to Satan, but He gave all authority on earth to the Church on earth whereas He holds on to all authority in heaven (Mat 28:18-19, Mat 18:18, Mat 9:6, Ro 5:17, Rev 5:10).

iii. Believers have power, that is, divine authority ("exousia" in Greek) over all the power, that is, evil ability ("dunamis" in Greek) of the devil, not over other people's spirit or will (Lk 10:19).

iv. Believers receive this divine authority (exousia) at the new birth to deal effectively with Satan and his demons but receive divine ability (dunamis) at the Holy Ghost baptism to deal effectively with himself and other people (Jn 1:12, Acts 1:8).

v. The basis of the believer's authority is the truth that we have been quickened (made alive); raised and seated together with Christ at the right hand of God far above Satan and his demons, as well as every name in this world and the world to come, with everything under our feet (Eph 1:19-23, Eph 2:5-6).

vi. All believers have the same authority, with none of us having more or less authority, but some know, understand or use it more or less than others (Lk 10:19).

vii. Satan and his demons submit themselves to your authority as a believer to the degree to which you submit yourself to the authority of Christ as the Head of the church (Jam 4:7, 2Cor 10:4-6, Eph 1 before Eph 2).

viii. The believer's authority is a key which the Lord is no longer responsible for using because He has already handed it over to every believer (Rev 1:18, Mat 16:17-19).

ix. A believer activates his authority by feeding his spirit on God's word coupled with prayer and fasting but he only increases his level of authority by using it (Mat 17:19-21, Mat 25:16).

x. A higher dimension of the believer's authority is imbedded in THE WORD OF GOD more than in THE NAME OF JESUS (Ps 138:2, Lk 4:4,8 12, Lk 10:17).

3. THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE
i. Belt of truth clear knowledge and understanding of God's Word (Eph 6:14).

ii. Breastplate of righteousness consciousness of our right standing with God without any sense of guilt, condemnation, unworthiness, inferiority, fear, bondage or sin-consciousness as if we had never sinned (Eph 6:14, Jn 8:3-11).

iii. Shoes of the preparation of the Gospel of peace − preaching the gospel with an ever-ready attitude (Eph 6:15).

iv. Shield of faith − living faith, which is faith with corresponding action (Eph 6:16, Jam 2:20).

v. Helmet of salvation hope of salvation to be revealed at Jesus' coming (Eph 6:17, 1Thess 5:8, Heb 6:19, Ro 13:11, Phil 2:12, Heb 9:28).

vi. Sword of the Spirit rhema [spoken Word] of God coming out of your mouth by faith in your heart (Eph 6:17, Rev 1:16, Rev 2:16, Rev 19:15).

RECOMMENDED BOOKS/MATERIALS: 1. The Authority of the Believer → Kenneth E. Hagin 2. The Battlefield of the Mind → Joyce Meyer 3. Spiritual Warfare → Derek Prince 4. The Name of Jesus → Kenneth E. Hagin.

LECTURE 7: SEVEN DIMENSIONS OF GOD'S WILL (LEARNING HOW TO HEAR & OBEY GOD)
1. Classifying the will of God
i. Good will of God (1Chr 17:1-4,11-12; 1 Chr 13:7-11)
ii. Permissive will of God (Nu 22:1- 35, 1Sam 8:6-7, 18, Ps 106:15)
iii. Perfect will of God

2. Knowing the will of God
A. WRONG NOTIONS ABOUT HEARING FROM GOD
i. God is always talking to everybody (1 Sam 28:6, Ex 24:12, 15-16, Eccl 3:7b, Rev 8:1)

ii. God speaks to spiritual babes through intuition, impression or inner witness but to spiritual adults through voices and visions
(Acts 9:3-6, 11-12)

iii. Prayer and fasting makes God speak to you (Acts 13:1-2)

iv. God put apostles and prophets in the church to lead or guide the New Testament saints in making their decisions in life (Heb 1:1-2, Jn 16:13-15, Ro 8:14)

v. God only speaks to a few luckily selected saints (Pro 20:27, 1Cor 2:9-12)

vi. God does not speak to people anymore today (Heb 1:1-2, Heb 13:8)

vii. Satan cannot speak to believers, only God speaks to them (Mat 16:22-23, Job 2: 8-9)

viii. You, and not God, determines how He speaks to you (Num 12:6-8)

ix. God speaks only to those who are close to Him (Job 33:14, Jam 4:8)

B. RIGHT WAYS OF KNOWING GOD'S WILL
i. Through human spirit witness (Ro 8:16, Pro 20:27, Mal 2:15-16)

ii. Through voice inner voice of the human spirit/inner voice of the Holy Spirit/outer audible voice

iii. Through visions (a) sleeping vision [or dream] (b) sleepless vision spiritual vision/open vision/trance [like a dream had while awake]

iv. Through inspired utterances
(Prophecy/interpretation of tongues/divers kinds of tongues 1Cor 12)

v. Through sanctified common sense (Pro 3:21-23, NLT)

vi. Through Godly advice or counsel (Pro 11:14; Pro 24:6 ; Pro 20:18, Ex 18:13-26)

vii. Through natural circumstances (Rev 1:20, NIV)

C. WRONG WAYS OF KNOWING GOD'S WILL
i. Putting out a fleece to know God's mind (Judg 6:12-22, 36-40)
Gideon used fleece to confirm God's will, not to know it.
ii. Casting lots (Acts 1:23-26)
That was before the Holy Spirit arrived on earth at Pentecost in Acts chapter 2.
iii. Random opening of the Bible
Someone opened the Bible three times and received these three messages one after the other: "And Judas went out and hanged himself." "Go and do likewise." "That which you want to do, do it quickly."
iv. Using zodiac signs or horoscope (Is 47:13, NIV)
v. Taking counsel from a fool/flatterer/yes-man (Pro 13:20, 2Chr 10:13-15,1Kgs 12:3-13, 26-30)

D. HINDRANCES TO HEARING FROM GOD
i. Being too busy with activities which prevents us from seeking God (Jam 4:8)
ii. Seared conscience due to persistent sin or disobedience (1Tim 4:2, Heb 12:1, Heb 3:7, 15)
iii. Weight (Heb 12:1)
iv. Not learning to listen to God speaking to you (Ps 62:11, Hab 2:1-2, 20)
v. Being conformed to the world (Ro 12:2, 1Jn 2:15-16)

vii. Idols in the heart (Ez 14:4, Num 22:12-22)
viii. Expecting the spectacular (1Kgs 19:9-13)
ix. Insufficient/little faith [leading to worry, fear, unbelief or doubt] (Mat 6:28-33)
x. Insensitive/uncharged human spirit
God's word, praying in an unknown tongue, worship and fasting sensitizes and fine-tunes your human spirit to pick or discern the voice or will of God more easily and accurately (Heb 4:12,1Cor 14:4, Acts 13:2-3, NIV)

E. HOW TO SENSITIZE YOUR HUMAN SPIRIT TO HEAR FROM GOD
i. Be baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 19:2-6)
ii. Desire the word (1Pet 2:2, Mat 5:6, 1Cor8:1-2)

Learn to follow God's PERFECT TIMING for your life.
iii. Understand that it is your responsibility to commit your way unto the Lord, but it is His responsibility to bring it to pass (Ps 37:5)
iv. Understand the conditions that may be attached

4. Enforcing the will of God through prayer (1Jn 5:14, Jn 15:7, Ro 8:26-27, 1Cor 14:2, 1Tim 1:18, KJV, Ez 36:37, NIV)

5. Being conformed to the will of God (Heb 5:8, Is 48:10, Jonah 1:1-4, 5-17, Acts 9:1-9)
One of the best ways by which God conforms us to His will is through hardship, adversity or suffering for Christ's sake.
Tribulations are allowed by God to keep us in His will for our lives; but if we are not careful enough those same tribulations can be used by Satan to discourage us, frustrate us and knock us out of God's will for us.
6. Submitting to the will of God (Mat 26:39, 42, 44; Jam 4:7, Mat 6:10)

WARNING
Sometimes, a person, object, place or so in a vision or dream may have a literal interpretation, not a symbolic meaning.
For example, a baby in a dream or vision may mean a literal or natural baby just as buying a car in a vision or dream may mean one is going to buy a car in the natural.
So we need to listen to the Spirit of God to lead us into all truth as regards interpreting visions and dreams as well as in all other areas of life for as many as are led by the Spirit of God are His sons (Ro 8:14, John 16:13).

ADVICE
"And the LORD answered me, and said, WRITE THE VISION, and MAKE IT PLAIN UPON TABLES, THAT HE MAY RUN THAT READETH IT" (Hab 2:2).
Always try to record the details of your dreams, visions and prophecies in a note book for reference purposes and visit it as often as possible so that you will not be found wanting in whatever God says or reveals to you.
I have kept such records for so many years and they have proved tremendously helpful to me.
