Living for Christ

by Henry Miranda

Colossians 3:2-4 (NKJV)
"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory."

Before you came to Christ you were living the way the world lives. You did things as the world did things. It was not until you came to Christ that your life made a complete change. Before becoming Christians we all came from different backgrounds. Some of us were at our worst end, and didn't know where to turn. Some of us like the apostle Paul were drawn In by God. Some of us grew up in the church knowing Christ. But, it makes no difference how we came into the Kingdom of God. But it makes all the difference in the world that we start growing in Christ because we have begun a new transform life when we accepted Christ in our lives. Now that your life is hidden with Christ in God you need to put Christ in the center of your life.

Worldly pleasures are no longer your calling in life as they once were so now you must pursue Godly pleasures.

We are so use to this world's ways which tells us to, do your own thing and do whatever makes you happy. But since we died and are in Christ we must have a different mindset. We now have to put Christ first and all things will follow. It's no longer what we would like to do but what the Lord wants us to do. We now say "Not my will, but your will, be done. "We must always ask God's will before we embark on any new venture. It's important to remember who you are in Christ. So you're not doing things in your own strength anymore but in the strength that comes from Jesus. Because Satan will do whatever it takes to keep you in the world's way.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Satan is totally against anything that God has planned for you. He is a great imitator of what God does but always pulls us in the opposite direction against God. So "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. So now you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. "We need to tolerate each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another"

Start putting your mind to things above. Your heavenly Father knows the things that you need and He will provide you with whatever is necessary for you to have a full Christian life. You are not the same person you were before you came to Christ. When you came to Christ you turned your life around 180 degrees. You see things differently now and you will have a new beginning. You can't live your life the same way as you did before you were transformed into a new creation. You turned your back on the old way of life and headed in a new direction towards Christ.

Changes are usually easier for some than others. You chose to follow Christ's so you must learn to yield your old way of doing things toward the new direction that Christ will lead you. Living for Christ is putting Him first and depending solely on Him. Our Christian life must be based on full commitment to Jesus. If we don't lay our foundation solely on Christ, then we will fail. So you must have Christ as your focal point in everything you do. We need to be on guard constantly and make sure our focus is on Christ and not on ourselves.

Now that we are living for Christ, we are "ambassadors" for Christ. We must live our lives as a good example to the people around us. People must see a change in us. Jesus will never leave us and He will always help us keep moving forward, Jesus is our strength. Continue trusting God that He will help you as you live for Christ.

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
"Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'
