Honoring the Giving Heart

It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35)

I pride myself on never asking for anything, perhaps too much. Yet I often say, but if you offer don't knock me for taking it. To commonly paraphrase, the bible says, "it is better to give than to receive". Lord, knows that's the truth; however, better is a relative term. It is not bad, wrong, or negative to receive, just not as good as being on the giving end. Yet the bible says, "Give and it shall be given to you". So then giving leads to receiving. What am I getting at? Often strong givers are weak receivers, as though one is contrary to the other. Think about it: God is never in need of our giving to Him, and yet He honors the sincere heart of the giver. I remember as a kid when you went to someone's home, they would just about always offer you something to eat. It was somewhat insulting to decline. To eat honored the offer and the person. For one to give, there of a necessity must be a receiver. How are you at receiving? Do you honor those who desire to give to you by being easy to give to? Are you too picky, prideful, or prosperous to receive? As Christians we are the greatest recipients of the greatest gift ever. While, perhaps God has so blessed us to give, He is not finish giving to us and sometimes by those with so humble means but just a thoughtful heart. Always honor the heart.
