Journey for Life

Journey for Life

Once there was a man who set out on a journey. He had a deep but gentle stirring inside which he couldn't quite perceive or explain, yet it caused him to venture out never-the-less.

He wandered aimlessly at first for many years till one day by chance he happened upon one who was acquainted with this journey & knew the way. After receiving instructions for the way, the man rejoiced at the good news knowing in his spirit that this was indeed the thing he was searching for. Now then, because of the hope set before him, he set out with much joy, zeal & determination. In a short time however, he realized the way was not so obvious nor as easy to follow as he had imagined. He met He met with many troubling detours, distractions & even mechanical break downs. Even though exasperating as they were he noticed that if he continually renewed his focus & kept his eyes fixed on his final destination that these trials became much easier to overcome. In time they even began to strengthen his resolve & confidence.

On yet one other strategic day, he happened to come across some more good fortune. All along the way he'd been listening to radio stations until this day when he happened to catch a signal which seemed to offer some help for his journey. The signal was very weak at first & he could only discern bits & pieces amongst the static. Other signals often interrupted & sometimes he even heard two at the same time. As he continued his journey along the same path the signal slowly became stronger & clearer. He began to hear messages which greatly encouraged & strengthened him. Some warned of storms he would have to endure & of some he could safely avoid along the way. They advised of unsafe stops, tourist traps & detours & even reminded him of timely maintenance for his vehicle. He began to tune in every day & listen intently to this information so that the pathway to his destination became all the more clear & all the more easy. It was odd but even though he still faced many of the same challenges along the way he realized an unexplainable peace which seemed to lift him up & over the obstacles. He never really noticed the transition, but at some point he began to soar up, over & above his former mode of transportation, above the hustle & bustle of the everyday traffic. He soared as though on eagle's wings, at times effortlessly gliding in strong but gentle wind currents so that with one subtle movement he could gently alter & adjust his course. With each passing day he became stronger & wiser & the way all the more sure. As he soared high above the things of this world his perspective was dramatically changing. He could begin to see over the hills & mountains until one day he began to see his destination. With this in sight he set his due course straight ahead & for the rest of his days all the troubles, cares & obstacles below seemed smaller & smaller as the place he was seeking grew larger & larger. As that day grew nearer so too did his peace, hope & joy& ultimately his fulfillment. Approaching still nearer, he began to hear the singing & rejoicing of a multitude of people. Others who had proceeded him on this journey. Drawing closer, he began to hear the words of their songsthe beauty of which so encapsulated him that it began to permeate his entire being until finally he burst out in chorus & seamlessly joined in praises to the lamb of God which was slain for him. Only then did he fully realize the immense magnitude & scope of this journey. This lowly lamb was the gentle stirring deep inside. He was indeed the very pathway of his journey. He was the many messages which guided him & even the wings upon which he soared bringing him safely to the Savior & Keeper of his soul.

I make my writings available to all, but I would very much like to hear from those who have questions or comments or are built up & enriched & also from those who wish to use my writings for reprint.
