A World In My Mind's Eye

by David Rester
2/10/2015 / Poetry

I see in my mind, there is this world,
In many ways different, yet somehow quite similar.
In this world, day is like darkened dusk,
And night is an impenetrable blackness.
Life in the day is an unending journey, continueous foward motion,
At night, for most, comes rest, except for those that chose absolute darkness.

Into this world of darkness by day, and absolute blackness by night,
Each and every person is given a cart, a staff, and a latern.
Upon birth they are given these three things, awaiting them in this world.
When each begins walking, by example they take up these three things;
For these are needed for their life in this world of constant movement in darkness.
These people are nomads, continueously moving foward, searching and gathering.

The majority, push their carts ahead, staff on shoulder, latern hanging behind;
So they may see to gather, and keep an eye on their possessions, as they increase.
As they journey they find necessities, wants, and things they consider treasures;
They know not where these come from, nor do they care; they are driven by desire.
Their load becomes a burden, it obstructs of their view, moving foward they're blinded.
No longer seeing the obstacles, obstructions, pits, and traps ahead; but still they gather.

There are few, that pull their carts behind, with staff attached and lantern hanging ahead,
They follow the light for guidance, they too gather what the light reveals.
On their journey they too gather necessities, wants, and things they consider treasures;
But they know these things are given, by the Giver, through love; and they give thanks.
Their load may become heavy, but it is easier to pull, it doesn't obstruct as they proceed;
They see what lays ahead, and even with similar struggles as the others, the light guides.

The few, journey together, encouraging, helping, and watching over each other.
Both groups teach their young with words, but more through example.
Some of the few, take their laterns at night and go to the others of both groups,
Sharing their knowledge of the better way to make the journey, by following the light.
Although some choose to join the few, most do not, trusting no one but self to help them.
Keeping their eyes on their possessions, although they blind their sight, they move foward.

The few, worry not about their possessions, for in their light they will find more;
And what they find, they share among themselves and with others in need.
When struggles, obstacles, and obstructions overwhelm they come together in unity;
For this journey; their lives; are the same, in and through their world;
They came into their world with nothing; once here, they're given their cart, staff, and lantern,
And they begin their nomadic journey, which leads each one to their end.

Those who put their cart of possessions before all, obstructing their sight;
Now have come to the end of their journey, and step into a great abyss.
Their possessions consumed by fire, filled with fear, they plunge into torment and anguish.
Their cries and screams unheard by those still on their journey.
It is here they await the others; dwelling on their decisions; in fear, torment, and anguish;
Awaiting the final judgement, to be cast into the lake of fire, in unconsumable bodies.

Those who pull their carts behind them, guided by their light,
Also come to the end of their journey, but by their light they see a narrow bridge;
Made of flesh and blood, secured to a bloody cross, leading to a blinding light.
Alone and naked it must be crossed, all possessions cast aside: meaningless.
Knowing this Great Light is the Giver of all things, He also provides this bridge.
They leave all, crossing the bridge, with thanks, praise, and honor; entering into the Light.

Now stepping out of my mind, leaving that world behind;
For these were but thoughts, a journey of things in my mind;
But by writing them down, I can dwell upon and reflect;
For this is so similar to the world in which I now live.
And now consider and ask you, to also think about and consider:
From which of these two groups of people, are you?

From the day I responded to God's calling, accepting His love, by repenting, and accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord (all through Him, His love, and GRACE); He has continued to grow our relationship, revealing all He desires, for me to know and share. All glory and praise being my Father's---- GOD!
