Joy Comes In the Morning--Oh Yes

by Sharon McDill
2/19/2015 / Devotionals

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. [Psalms30:5]

Life can be difficult when you feel attacked from all sides. Sometimes you can climb one mountain, find hope, and then super slide into the next valley with another mountain and another and another. At times you may even feel like a small child crying out to God, "When is the joy coming? When, Lord? How long until morning? How much further, Daddy? You promised!"

Ponder a moment. What would your character be like if there were a quick fix for each problem that came along? Where would all the growing be that works to transform your mind into the mind of Christ? Deep down in your heart as His child, you know that He loves and strengthens you through these daily trials.

And though weeping may endure for a night, these nightly trials prepare you for being His vessel--a vessel that is fired, polished, and made whole by Jesus who carries you over the mountains of life. Everyone's night is different, but the promise is the same and unbreakable. The deeper you trust Him in the night the more peace He will give you as you wait for the morning --the morning that will not be early, will not be late, but will be just in time--His time.

For His joy comes every morning that you trust your "upside down" world to Him. Stop now and be silent a moment. Can you hear Him? Can you feel the grace and mercy He shows when you wake up anew each morning?

Lord, thank you for your promise of your joy that comes in the morning as you grow me through my nights. Amen.
