Be Equipped!

Salvation is an awesome thing but it isn't all there is to being a Christian. You just don't become saved and try living your life on that alone. For Jesus didn't promise you a carefree or trouble free life. On the contrary, He said Matthew 24:9-14 9 "Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. 10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come."

To "endure to the end" you must be equipped. First you must be baptized in water that acknowledges the washing away of the "old" sinful you. Then you must be baptized with fire of the Holy Spirit. Luke 24:49 "I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." It is critical that all Christians be baptized with the Holy Spirit. You cannot have "power from on high" without the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn't perform any miracles until the Holy Spirit came upon Him like a dove. Jesus survived the temptations of Satan after He was baptized with the Holy Spirit. His disciples were forever changed when they received the Holy Spirit in the upper room for they were clothed with power from on High!

Now you are ready to be fully equipped. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 7 "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills."

This is what the giftings of the Holy Spirit is like. You have probably seen movies where the hero manages to get to his secret stash of weapons. This stash is a well hidden closet behind a secret wall or in a storage locker. In this place the most powerful and deadly weapons are kept. The hero carries his regular hand gun but now it is time to break out the big guns! In all of the movies the hero always gets the victories after he gets hold of the powerful weapons. God has prepared a hidden closet place just for you and in there are the nine powerful weapons of the Holy Spirit! They are useful, helpful and powerful for every situation.

These weapons are only useful to those who first are willing to use them and second those who know how to use them. Faith, trust, courage and boldness are all necessary to utilize these weapons. Only the Holy Spirit can activate them for use as He determines. And it is only by the leading of the Holy Spirit that you learn how to use and utilize them.

Standing on a rack next to these weapons is the amour of God. Ephesians 6:11-12 "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." This amour includes the Helmut of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, the shield of faith and the shoes of peace. The obvious missing part of this amour is that there is no backside amour. That is for two reasons. First there is no retreat and second God has your back!

Matthew 16:19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heavenlies, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heavenlies." Hanging on the wall located next to the amour of God is a king ring with a set of two gold keys. Keys are used to lock up, bind up and shut up and they are also used to unlock, loosen and set free. That is why there are two keys. Bind up all the evil schemes, sickness, poverty, demons and wicked plans of the Devil. Loosen all of God's blessings, angels of protection, all spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit, healing, deliverance and the prosperity of heaven.

There is also a small bottle of oil located in the weapons room. This is anointing oil for the anointing breaks all of the yokes. Yokes of addictions, yokes of sickness, yokes of bitterness, yokes of every type of fornication and sexual lusts and all types of yokes of bondage. The oil of gladness saturates every part of your being with joy. For the joy of the Lord is your strength!

These weapons/tools/gifts of the Holy Spirit are for you to use in spiritual battle and for the support and encouragement of fellow Christians. There is no situation, problem or enemy that can stand against a Holy Spirit filled child of the most High God who is armed with these weapons/tools/gifts of the Holy Spirit. For Jesus is with you always even 'til the end of time!

The world doesn't believe in the God, His Word, Jesus His Son or the Holy Spirit. So no surprise that they don't believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. What is sad is that there are churches and pastors out there who don't believe either. Some say that those gifts died with the prophets centuries ago and are not for today. Others claim that those gifts are of the Devil and not of God. All of which is meant to keep Christians from knowing and using them for God's kingdom and glory. He has provided them for all of us to use and not to be ignorant of their existence and purpose. They are not to be abused, ignored, forgotten about or denied. Be filled with the Holy Spirit and allow the Holy Spirit to guide and lead you daily. Allow God to be God in you, with you, for you, to you and through you everywhere you go. And everywhere you go do so by being equipped for service for God's kingdom.
