'Cash-for-arms controversy, an embarrassment to Nigerian Christians'

by Wale Olagunju
4/08/2015 / Politics

Prophet Wale Olagunju is the presiding Bishop of God Chapel Ministry, based in Ibadan. He is also the President of Vanguard for Nigerian Christian Emancipation, an organisation with the aim of seeing to the wellbeing of Christians in Nigeria. In this interview with DAYO EMMANUEL, Olagunju, who is worried about Christian leadership in Nigeria, also frowned at the recent controversy surrounding the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Excerpts:
Tell us more about the President of Vanguard for Nigerian Christian Emancipation, what it stands for and what your programs are?
I'm the Presiding Bishop of Divine Seed of God Chapel Ministry Sasa, Ibadan, and the President of Vanguard for Nigerian Christian Emancipation. I am a native of Igbara-Oke in Ondo State, a degree holder and for the past 13 years, I have neither taken my bath nor had sexual intercourse with my wife: it was God's instruction and the major aim is to protect all Nigerian Christians from Violent and injustice.
Please can you clarify on the point that you neither slept with your wife not took a bathe for 13 years?
To take up the cross or to bear the cross is to be willing to pay any price or make any sacrifice for Christ's sake. God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets. Hebrews 1:1.
In life, you cannot succeed in anything if you don't pay the price. Neither can you make it in the rapture if you don't makeup your mind to stand firm and to serve God to the End. Just like John the Baptist in the book of matt 3:1-4. Also, Prophet Isaiah, in the book of Isaiah 20:1-3, he walked naked and barefoot for three years. Also, Ree Howell of Switzerland, so it is a divine instruction from God and a price attached to my calling.
But is it scriptural not to touch one's wife for 13 years and not to bathe for that long when our God is said to be holy and when He encourages intimacy between husband and wife?
I saw the handwriting boldly in 1999. In 2000, I was on the mountain at Akike where I spent a year praying, asking God to give me more power and ability to prophesy accurately as well as to give me power. I asked God to give me power to do exploit in the ministry. I wanted power like that of Elijah and Isaiah. But God told me there is a price to pay: you must separate yourself by abstaining from bath, sex, drinking of soft drinks and wine. When I got home, I couldn't tell my wife. It was a hard task to embark upon. I kept the word for four months. I was battling with it and at the same time, seeking the
face of God for more clarifications. So, God revealed Himself to my wife and it was confirmed and so, since 2001 until now, water has not touched my body. God has been using me and I have been prophesying according to his instructions and to the glory of God, all the prophesies have been coming to pass.
How do you measure your success in this regard? Have you achieved your aim?
It is a new organisation and Nigerian will soon hear from us. For example, the constitution of Nigerian is based on the Sharia law, and we have two major religions: Christianity and Islam; the fate of our brothers in the North the maginalisation of the Ibos after 44 years of Nigerian Civil War and many more. This we will pursue to the logical end.
But how do you see Christianity in Nigeria today and what is your organisation doing to address our own Christian leaders who are always with the powers that be?
CAN is an Association of Nigerian Christian. The major aim is to protect the interest of Nigerian Christians, to stand against injustice, corruption and bad governance. But today, under the leadership of Ayo Orisejafor, CAN has gone from a religious organisation to a political party that qualifies for INEC registration. When you go by the recent actions of Pastor Ayo Orisejafor as well as recent unfolding events in the country, you will realise that the professed servant of God has allowed religious and tribal sentiment to blindfold his reasoning such that he has totally derailed and does not know what to do other than to assume.
But some have said that Pastor Orisejafor has stood against the killing of Christians in the north by terrorists, don't you think he is fulfilling the duties of his office?
The CAN President needs to realise the need to draw the line between being an ethnic champion, a protg of President Jonathan and providing purposeful leadership that would position CAN well at such a time as we are. I have 10 Questions for CAN President.
But the President respects him as a spiritual leader, not his protge?
The problem of Nigerian nation today is much of witchcraft sacred advisers who are using religion to destabilise our nation. They are in Aso Villa, it can be curtailed if Jonathan can do some cleansing by sacking all those religious deceivers who are in the villa. Time is right to separate religion from politics. The issue on ground is pure business, so CAN should not get itself involved at all nor protect the CAN President. The CAN President says it is war against the Church, but I say no it is pure business as usual.
I believe sentiment will not allow Nigerians think straight. The cash-for-arms scandal is an embarrassment to the entire Christian community in Nigeria. Those who will represent God on earth need have their affection set on things above not on things on earth. Christ Jesus prayed for our sanctification so that we will reflect His image to the world in order for them to believe. A real Christian does what is
right and avoids what is evil. A defender of righteousness, not minding whether people are going to approve of his action or not, Christ Jesus lived a life that please God and He is our perfect example, so Ayo Oritsejafor has dragged the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and CAN into the mud. Our Lord Jesus Christ was not on earth to rival Cessar or Herod, Ayo Oritsejafor, the CAN President, hobnobs with politicians.
It is, therefore, not unexpected that the CAN President's private jet is now enmeshed in a cash-for-arms deal scandal in South Africa. How will Oritsajafor explain to the world that, with the fleet of Presidential jet in the country, the Federal Government could not use anyone other than the one belonging to the CAN President for the unholy job? The action of Oritsajafor has tarnished not only Christianity in Nigeria, but also the name of Jesus Christ who he professes to represent. By this action, heathens have seized the airwaves contending that the God that Christians leaders of our age worship is mammon rather that the living God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
CAN President should bow out of office for a noble person to lead and reposition the body for the assignment ahead. What Nigeria needs now are true prophets of God who could say thus says the Lord. Men who, like the Elijah/Elisha and Apostles of Old, evidently stand in the presence of God and could command fire at the altar as Elijah did. We need prophets who could speak truth to power that be and not those corroded and compromised by those in and around the corridors of power.
We need those who know God and are his oracles. We need those who have walked with the most High God and have his testimony that they are blameless. To find the way out of the Nigerian wilderness, we need those who will faithfully combat the anti-Christ raging in the North East of our nation. CAN has been politicised and it is no longer being used to promote peace and unity in the country. CAN is being dragged into partisan politics, thereby compromising the ability to play its true role as conscience of the nation and the voice of the voiceless. Some Christians believe he has pushed CAN into ignominy with his utterances and actions, making Nigerians regard the association as an arm of the PDP. The honourable thing is for Oritsajafor to leave as he is polarising the Christian body.
My questions for CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on the $9.3m scandal:
1. Why would an Aircraft belonging to CAN President be used to smuggle cash out of the country?
2. What would be his reaction if a messy deal is attributed to a different faith?
3. Who owns Eagle Air Ltd.? He should exhibit to Nigerians, the certified true copy of the company's incorporation documents as of date in the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja.
4. Who owns Green Coast Produce Ltd.? He should exhibit to Nigerians certified true copy of the company's incorporation documents as of date in the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja.
5. Was Bombardier Challenger 600 Aircraft N808HG & Eagle Air Co. Ltd. registered as a commercial aircraft and company with NCAA?
6. The Director of National Issues, CAN, Mr. Sunday Oibe, admitted in the press that, CAN President, Oritsejafor, is an ardent supporter of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Should the CAN President be politically partisan?
7. How will CAN President exonerate himself from murky waters of international arms trafficking?
8. Why did the CAN President eventually turn himself to a sorry appendage of the Villa?
9. Why is CAN President disorganising the association he ought to protect and safeguard?
10. The CAN President should do the honourable thing by stepping down as CAN President pending the outcome of investigation of Nigeria Senate and that of South Africa. He should save the Nigeria Christian Faiths from this embarrassment.
But don't you think religion is a problem in our politics, or is it until we have a Christian president before we can have a good nation?
The problem of the Nigeria nation started the very day Gen Gowon brought to Nigeria FESTAC and then executed by General Obasanjo. Ever since, Nigeria has been in problem to get out of it, we need National Repentance Crusade today.
