GOD IS GOOD: FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT.

by ROBIN BOSCH

All the goodness of God is expressed, amplified and magnified through and by One Person - Jesus Christ. God is ONLY good. His actions and motives are all driven with one goal in mind, and that is to express to all his creation how good he is. His whole being, essence and character is the ultimate personification of love and goodness.

We have been deceived by the enemy who would divert our attention from the glorious fact of His tender mercy towards us.(Luke 1:78) The enemy, the devil will do all he can to misinterpret the scriptures. He will do all he can to muddy the waters so to speak and paint an erroneous picture of a God who is "out to get us", a God who is one minute "happy" with us and the next "mad" at us. On the contrary, all Gods dealings, feelings and expressions toward us are good.

If we believe that Jesus is the Saviour of the world and that he is the Messiah, "our personal" Saviour, the second Person in the Trinity (God the Son), we can be assured that Father God looks at us through the filter of His Son; the filter of the Cross where Jesus was crucified.

So if we are searching for the assurance of His goodness, all we need to do is gaze upon God the Son.(Zec. 12:10) There is only One that is good and that is God.

In Luke. 18:18-19 KJV it says, ".. a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none [is] good, save one, [that is], God."

Here Jesus was cleverly saying, "if you are calling me Good Master then you must be acknowledging me as God, as there is only One that is good and that is God."

Philip one of the disciples asked Jesus to show him the Father. But "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father? (Jhn. 14:9KJV)

Jesus was explaining to his disciples that every good thing they had seen Him do, every miracle, every good attribute, disposition and act of kindness, was exactly who Abba Father was. What was that? GOODNESS and MERCY.(Ps.25:7)

(Jhn 17:11 KJV) "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we [are]."

JESUS IS GOD THE SON. He cannot be anything less; otherwise we are still in our sins. We read that only God can forgive sins. The Pharisees and Scribes accused Jesus of blasphemy because he forgave sins. Let's read it, (Luke 5:21 KJV) "And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?"

In John 1:1 We read, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men."
Who is the Word? God The Word, Jesus the Messiah. Jesus "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"(Phl 2:6 KJV)

Where else do we see that Jesus Christ (Messiah) is God in the Word? Let's look at one interesting indication.
When they came to arrest Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane, the soldiers called out to Jesus to step out and make Himself known. Let's read what happened:

"They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am [he]. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am [he], they went backward, and fell to the ground. (Jhn 18:5-6 KJV)
Jesus used the name I AM and they fell backwards.

When Moses asked the following question to God: "Behold, [when] I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What [is] his name? what shall I say unto them? [Exo 3:13,14 KJV] 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

So we see that Jesus the Messiah is also I AM. If he was not God then we would have remained in our sorry state of sin; we would still be unredeemed from the curse of the law. (Act 4:12 KJV) "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Instead, God the Father sent God His Son to give us Eternal and Everlasting Life.

God is irrevocably and astoundingly good, for He not only saved us, He also sealed us by the Holy Spirit.(2 Cor.1:22) Jesus said in (Jhn 17:11 KJV) "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we [are]".

Now we have God the Holy Spirit dwelling in us who was promised, so that we may live. The Spirit of Grace who guides us and will never leave us or forsake us.(Heb.10:29)

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:" [Jhn 15:26 KJV]

The Gospel of His goodness is designed to give us a rock solid foundation that cannot be shaken. A Threefold Unity working as One.

This oneness and unity is played out for example in (Mat 3:16-17 KJV) "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

Here we see:
1) Jesus,
2) The Holy Spirit as a dove and
3) The voice of the Father.
(One Good God in Unity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit)
Amen.

I have been a believer in Christ for many years. It has only been in the last three or four years that I have received greater insight into the Grace of God. This has injected me with energy to tell others about the blessed "rest" we have in Christ. Grace is not a theology but is a Person-- Jesus.
