AN EXAMPLE OF A PALM TREE.

by ROBIN BOSCH

I read an interesting article in a blog by Kerstin Lundquist where she states:

"The Palm Tree is the most resilient of trees. It has a genetic make-up that allows it to be very flexible. As a matter of fact, it has the capacity to bend almost double without breaking. It has been well documented that during storms with hurricane force winds, only the Palm Tree is able to withstand without breaking or being uprooted. Not only so, but when the ill winds are past, the tree just pops back up into its original position totally unfazed. Large Oak Trees are pulled up by the roots. Other trees are snapped in two like toothpicks, but the Palm Tree still stands strong amid the destruction surrounding it. It is also believed that its root system is not weakened, but actually strengthened by these storms."

That is so true. I am to make sure that my spiritual root system is well grounded. The storms of life come, but I am to be rooted in Christ, immoveable and steadfast. If I am anchored in Him, nothing can uproot me. Just like the Palm tree I must move with the wind of the Holy Spirit for

"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (Jhn 3:8 KJV)
In these last days I must immerse myself in God's Word (Rom.12:1, 2, and 3.) When I pray, I must " ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. (Jas 1:6 KJV)

In these trying times the Lord wants me to know that He is with me in every storm, every circumstance and every trial. He wants my "root system" to be grounded in His love, (Eph.3:17) for His love is so immense, so comforting, and so sure.(Heb.6:19)

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom 8:38-39 KJV)
The storms of life cannot compare to His loving embrace and His all-encompassing grace because, "....... he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (2Co 12:9 KJV)

Just like the Palm tree, my roots become strong when I'm at my weakest and the winds the strongest. This is confirmed by Paul when he says, "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (2Co 12:10 KJV)

How can I do this?

By knowing that Jesus is the root I trust in, for
Isaiah called Him the root of Jesse.
"And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust. (Rom 15:12 KJV)

And my Saviour said;
"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star. (Rev 22:16 KJV) Amen.

I have been a believer in Christ for many years. It has only been in the last three or four years that I have received greater insight into the Grace of God. This has injected me with energy to tell others about the blessed "rest" we have in Christ. Grace is not a theology but is a Person-- Jesus.
