Let your Faith Be Solid

by Vanessa Grossett
5/13/2015 / Self Help

Have you ever been in a situation, where you have been praying about certain circumstances, and your faith levels are high. However when you don't see the manifestation of that situation you start to doubt? Then you hear a Word or read a passage of scripture and miraculously your faith levels are high again, however you're still waiting for the manifestation and now you're starting to doubt again.

I have done this on many occasions. I call this yo-yo faith, because one minute my faith was high and then it became low again. However when it came to other people, my faith for their situation was rock solid. I affirmed with them that God would do something unexpected.

It's ironic that our faith can be rock solid for other people, but when it comes to ourselves we tend to waver. Though we read the scriptures 'Without faith it is impossible to please God,' and 'Behold I am the God of all flesh is there anything too difficult for me?' We still tend to doubt.

I believe this is because most of the time we want things to happen quickly. We live in a society where patience no longer has its place. We can get information quickly from the Internet now; we no longer have to wait for things much.

This can make us forget with God things don't work as quickly as we would like. We must be grateful for this, because sometimes when we think we are ready for something, deep down we are actually not.

As I was doing research, I found in the King James Bible the word patience appears thirty four times. Also one of the fruit of the Spirit is long suffering, Galatians 5:22-23.

The main reason why I had yo-yo faith, was because my patience levels wasn't great. In fact patience was one of the hardest characteristics that I have had to experience. Before I became a Christian I was used to getting what I wanted quickly, mainly because I was doing things in my own strength.

Now I had this new life of surrendering all to God, waiting on situations. Brethren this was tough, until I came across this scripture 'But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord.' James 1:6

This particular scripture sticks with me mainly because I don't like being double minded. Double mindedness also reminds me of instability. I am someone once I make a decision, I aim to stick with it and complete it to the end, my yo-yo or wavering faith was making me double minded.

I made a decision that I am going to believe God for my situations, and then carry on with what I am doing. I found the less I worried and have solid faith the more peace I had and God always came through for me in my circumstance.

Now I do understand that you must take action with your faith. if you're looking for a job, it won't just fall onto your lap. You have to do your part, but while you are waiting don't allow doubt to enter in, put it under your feet. You know in whom you have put your trust, our God who created the Heavens, and earth. Our God is omnipresent. He is powerful and almighty. He is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and nothing is too hard for Him.

Let your faith be solid that no matter what you know, in fact you are convinced that God will come through for you. Even if the circumstances look different in the natural, remember you have nothing to prove to anybody.

Just let your faith arise, let your faith be solid and all your doubts be shattered, in Jesus name.

Psalm 121 'I lift up my eyes to the mountainswhere does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
