Repent Or Regret.
by Olawale Ogunsola
6/23/2015 / Salvation
"Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away." Acts 3:9, NLT.
Each time God remembers the wickedness of man, His expectation remains the same, that is repentance from him. The same holds until today. No matter how bad a man's ways are, God is ready to accept him IF he repents. If he wholly turn to God, he will be forgiven.
Are you aware of any evil way(s) you are walking in? Have you heard messages from different sources telling you to do away with it? Have you considered what you have been advised to do? That is, to turn away from doing evil? Do you know what? It is to your own advantage.
When are you expected to do this? NOW!
In the quoted verse above, it begins with "Now repent..." It should be NOW because it is certain that you will repent one day but doing so NOW will profit you.
A song writer, H. Bonar, admonishes you thus,
"'Yet there is room.' The Lamb's
bright hall of song,
With its fair glory, beckons thee along
Room, room, still room! Oh, enter,
Day is declining, and the sun is low,
The shadows lengthen, light makes
haste to go
Room, room, still room! Oh enter,
It fills, it fills that hall of jubilee!
Make haste, make haste 'ts not too full
Room, room, still room, oh enter,
Ere night that gate may close, and seal
Then the last, low, long cry, 'No room,
No room, no room!
Oh woeful cry!
No room!' "
The writer speakes the mind of God,
"At just the right time, I heard you.
On the day of salvation, I help you."
Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of your salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
In summary, your repentance NOW will guarantee your salvation; a later day may be too late for you. One thing is sure:
You will surely repent or regret!
A later repentance will not give you refreshment but regrets. When the door is closed, there will be no more room but doom. Do not engage in late repentance:
1. Pharaoh and his people. "Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians." Exodus 14:25. (KJV).
By the time these people repented of pursuing the children of Israel water of the Red Sea covered them forever. Regrets was their song in hell. Their late repentance offered them only destruction.
2. Achan. He was one of the soldiers n Isreal in the day's of Joshua. He stole and was found out. In his words,
"It is true! I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel. Among the plunders I saw a beautiful robe from Babylon, 200 silver coins, and a bar of gold weighing more than a pound. I wanted them so much that I took them. " Joshua 7:20-31.
Did Achan not regret his action? He failed to repent when it mattered most. He confessed his sins when it was too late. If he had been given the opportunity, he may have turned over a new leaf. What was the outcome of his late confession and repentance?
"Then Joshua and all the Israelites took Achan, the silver, the robe, the bar of gold, his sons, daughters, cattle, donkeys sheeps, goats, tents, and everything he had and they brought them to the valley of Archor."
And all the Israelites stoned Achan and his family and burned their bodies." Joshua 7:24-25.
Do you want to repent today or remain a sinner who destroys many things?
It is better for you to repent (turn away totally from every wrongdoing) NOW when an evil day has not come. Repent today when the day of judgment has not come. Many people will believe the gospel of Jesus Christ when they arrive in Hell but it will be too late for them.
Therefore, repent NOW!
Stay blessed and rapturable because the Lord is coming soon.
