How To Maximize The Blessings Of A Name

by Ngozi Nwoke
7/17/2015 / Christian Living

Do you have a good name and desire that its meaning be fulfilled in your life? Every good name has the potential to deliver what it carries to the maximum point, but how much of it you can get depends on what you do with the name.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit - Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says - Mark 11:23 (NKJV)

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist - Luke 21:15 (NKJV)

The key to the flow of the blessings of a name is the tongue. Those who use their tongues wisely eat life and blessings. Our victory and success in life have a lot to do with our mouth and the level of wisdom we apply in its use. Luke 21:15 implies that when you use your mouth and the wisdom of God, all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist you or what you said.

Your mouth is the gateway to your life and destiny; with your mouth confession is made unto salvation - Romans 10:10. You confirm the meaning of your name with your mouth. God admonished in Psalm 81:10-14 that you should open your mouth wide, so He can fill it and subdue your enemies. Until you open your mouth wide and declare the wisdom of God, your future that your name prophesies about will only be a dream. A closed mouth is a closed destiny - Dr David Oyedepo.

Wisdom for maximizing the blessings of a name

Call it out

God says in Mark 11:23 that you will have what you say. As often as you call out the name, you are calling out the blessing of that name upon the bearer. The prophecy in the name will come to pass as you affirm it with your mouth. Continuous calling of the name even when circumstances surrounding the bearer are saying otherwise forces the person's life to align according to the meaning of the name.

Do so with understanding

Calling a name with an understanding of its meaning enhances the effect of the name. A thing is established by understanding - Proverbs 24:3. Calling the name with understanding turns it to a prayer that God should fulfill the meaning of the name on the bearer's life and destiny.

Mix it with faith

Mix your calling of the name with faith that it may profit the bearer greatly - Hebrews 4:2. Faith provokes divine intervention anytime and anywhere. Calling with faith commits God to speedily cause the meaning of the name to start speaking in the life of the individual.

And when the bearer answers with understanding and faith too, the result is faster, more and stronger.

Don't shorten it to zero meaning.

When you are shortening a name, ensure the good meaning is not lost, otherwise it will result to "reduced or zero" effect on the bearer. Furthermore, a short form of a name may mean something else entirely which could be good, bad or meaningless. If your desire is to see the meaning of a name fulfilled in your life or that individual's life, then you need to ensure that what is called is what you desire to see.

Name calling/Nickname

Name calling and nickname have the same potential as your birth names. Their effects are also influenced by frequency of use. Therefore, it is wisdom to reduce the name calling to zero if it is in your power. If it is beyond you, avoid scenarios that will trigger off the name calling. And if someone calls you names, open your mouth wide and reject it wisely; not rejecting it is accepting it.

So, parents watch what you call your children no matter what they do to avoid any negative effects of the names on your children. Words like stupid, foolish, lazy and daft, etc should be avoided.

Likewise, any bad nickname should be rejected outright.

Maximizing the blessings of your name is your responsibility. Answer your names both with understanding and faith. And ensure that what you want to BE is what is called.
