At the foot of the cross I viewed the scene:
The decor was a sight to see;
My mouth, like all else, was sealed;
But my heart surely did weep.
The resounding sound of hurt and pain -
Echoed through the silence that paved the way;
Hanging heads from disgrace & shame;
Faces with no expression, paved the way.
Blood stained cloth caressed their heads -
Cuts, bruises, open wounds to mend.
So many believing it was the end -
A view of the living dead.
Faced with the debris of societies refuse.
Without a tune, they sang the blues -
All hope gone, they craved the physician’s care;
But knew not of his precious love and grace.
They’re longing for, my Saviour to meet:
Tenderly my heart responds in a beat -
Facing that rugged Cross I see;
Now eager to hear my Master speak.
The silence broke as an angel spoke -
Seems she's taken all that life had thrown.
She stood: blood dripping to the ground,
Bible in hand - seems the only thing she owned.
Medication prescribed:
Straight out of Psalm twenty five;
To Calvary, I shall now turn my eyes -
For there, my debt was paid with His life.
Finally He speaks,
As slowly, I read the psalm received.
Now change in me must be;
For now the hurt and pain I see.
Now the cross before me laid -
Is this my purpose here on earth?
Is this my calling for today?
Whatever it be - I’m sure He’ll reveal.
