El Gibor

The Mighty God

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of
Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).

This name is given to Jesus Christ, God the Son. The idea of this name is that of a warrior. It is an intensive use of the word "mighty." God the Son, like the Father, is the mighty Warrior.

When circumstances in your life want to engulf you, El Gibor can be trusted to fight for you. When your enemies unite their forces to barrage you and to make life difficult for you, you can turn to El Gibor, The Mighty Warrior, to put them at bay. When the forces of darkness are unleashed to destroy your faith in God, trust in El Gibor to intervene.

He is strong and powerful. He sets the captives free, fully and completely. He is the mighty Warrior Who has power over death. He has power over the devil. The devil and his host could not hold him down in the grave. Even in the grave He is Lord.

All power belongs to Him. He has power to forgive your sins. He has power to heal your broken heart. He has power to move that mountain before you. And He has power to keep you to the end. His name is El Gibor, The Mighty God.

Praying the Name of El Gibor

Praise

El Gibor, the mighty God, I praise You. No might is greater than Your might. You are the mighty conqueror with the power to subdue all things. I praise Your name.

Prayer

Lord, You are the mighty God. Do what You alone can do in my situation. Answer my prayer. Send help from Your sanctuary. Your hand is not too short to save me from this situation. May Your outstretched arm deliver me out of the billows of life. Give me victory because You are the mighty God.

Confession

You are the mighty God of Ages. You are the prevailing and conquering God. You have power over death. You have power over the grave because You rose from the grave. You have power over the Devil because You have conquered him through Your death and resurrection. You have power not only to forgive sins but power to also deliver us from it. You, God the Son, are indeed the mighty God.
