How Will You Be Remembered

by Leonard Granger
10/13/2015 / Christian Living

At our country church, we recently had a sermon about how men and women of the Bible are remembered. Some were born in humble circumstances and as they served God they grew to be pillars of the faith. Others, while serving God, started out strong and then had highs and lows during their life and may have gone down the wrong road; so now they are remembered as weak servants of God. The Biblical leaders of the Old and New Testaments had many challenges with trials and tribulations. When they turned to God in prayer for his guidance and protection, He was there to answer their cries for help. However, if they left God out of their decisions and attempted to find an answer with their limited knowledge, we read where all kinds of great misfortunes and disasters often resulted.

It tells us in the Bible as Christians, where the Lord reminds us we have a limited time to serve him and let others see our works. James 4:14-15, " Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even as a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this or that." James 2:26, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

Yes, if we ask the Lord, in prayer, for His guidance before we make a large or small decision, our life here on the earth will be more successful. The Lord is there to answer our prayers and if we praise him daily as his servant; he is pleased and we often see blessings of all kinds showered on us. Remember, those around us watch daily how we live as Christians and I pray we live a life that is a beacon of light to the lost world.

How can we as servants of the Lord remain strong and walk in the footsteps of our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? The Bible covers every aspect of a Christian life if we only spend time and search out the answers we are looking for. I am reminded of my Air Force service in the missile field, working on airborne missiles carried by the B-52 bomber. It was impossible to remember all the solutions for repair of malfunctions that might happen on the missile, however, we had tech manuals. They told us what to repair and how to do it correctly, so we could keep the missiles protecting our nation. We should use the Bible also to find answers to keep us strong servants of the Lord.

The Armor of God, we read can protect us from the devil, Ephesians 6-10-11, " Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. In verse 16, "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." The devil will attempt to lead us down a wrong road if we let him, but let us be strong and pray and read the Bible daily as it gives us spiritual strength in our personal relationship with the Lord.

We pray our life will be remembered as a faithful servant of the Lord and we had the boldness to spread the Gospel to the sinful world.

Let us give honor and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ this Sunday as we worship Him in the church of our choice.
