KNOWING OUR AUTHORITY IN CHRIST

by ROBIN BOSCH
11/13/2015 / Devotionals

We have a beautiful male Ridgeback named Tommy who is scared of one of our cheeky little female Jack Russell's named Emma. She's very possessive and comes across very aggressive, baring her teeth - something to observe - really ugly. When Tommy the Ridgeback comes near her she snaps at him, causing him to jump backwards. It's quite nerve wracking to observe, as one feels that it could easily turn nasty at any moment.

Fortunately at this stage,Tommy is scared of her, not realizing that if he stood his ground and showed some gumption he could wipe the floor with her. This of course, would cause mayhem and I shudder to think what could happen if Tommy realized who he really is: A "Large Dog" with great strength and power. A dog used as a Lion dog in the bush-veld of South Africa. The days of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, transporting goods by ox wagon between Nelspruit and Mozambique in the 1800's. Heroic, courageous, taking on Lions, 'knowing who he is" - Fearless!

That's exactly how we are many times. We have this huge ability, power and authority dwelling on the inside of us. When we accept Christ, the Kingdom of God has (with all its grandeur, majesty, power, authority, ability, availability,) taken up residency in our spirit.
Heavens banner firmly embedded in our hearts.

A heart made 'new' by the One clothed with a vesture dipped in Blood and called "The Word of God."(Rev 19:13)

The One. ".........who has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." (Rev 19:16)

The KING OF KINGS who has given us authority to overcome. Why? Because He has overcome all things. (1 Jn 2:14) We are over comers because He has overcome. Everything He is, we are, in Him. Isn't that amazing!

The more we realize this, the more we will operate in the power of who we are, "in Him." The more the light of this truth dawns on our souls, the more we will operate in the Spirit; for His Spirit is all powerful and totally victorious.

The power of the Kingdom is available and waiting to be released in and through us. As we believe and are willing to lower the drawbridge of Heavens Castle, the Spirit of Calvary will march forward releasing and enabling us to operate in Kingdom Authority.

The amazing truth is, God the Father sees Jesus and loves us the same as He loves Jesus, (Jn. 17:23) giving us a letter of commendation, an ambassadorship to represent Him. (2 Co 5:20) "for as He is, so are we in this world." (Jn 4:17)

Most of us: when the devil bares his teeth - cower in fear, like Tommy the Ridgeback when Emma the Jack Russell growls, threatening mayhem; shrinking back in fear, forgetting our authority - forgetting who we are in Christ.
We err, not 'really' knowing the scripture nor the Power of God. (Matt 22:29)

I think the truth is, we realize it's available, but freeze in fear. The devil looms large and we allow our soul realm to block the spirit realm where Christ dwells.

The Kingdom of God momentarily becomes the kingdom of this world (Jn 18:36) and instead of remembering who we are in Christ, and the authority we have in Him, we back off, substituting the truth for the lie. We forget that when the devil snarls, "........ all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us." (2 Co 1:20) Note: by us.
We are the channels from which Gods glory flows. When we know our authority and believe His promises, His Name is glorified.

I believe that our problem is not so much knowing these truths but more the flesh fighting against the Spirit of truth. (Ga 4:17) We have the theoretical concept but don't activate the Spirit by simply surrendering. We make it complicated and turn the Gospel into fables, having a form of godliness, denying the power thereof. (2 Tim. 3:5) This happens to us all.

We sit back many times and subconsciously think that the authority we have 'in Christ,' is almost too good to be true.

The fact is, in Him we have the fullness of the Godhead bodily living in our spirit. That's amazing and absolutely true. That's the Good News.

I believe that when we believe - the devil will believe we believe, and be convinced of our belief, and tremble. (Ja 2:19)

He will know that his snarls and posturing will have no affect. His tactics failed, we having overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of His testimony. (Rev 12:11)

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. (Rom 11:33-36 KJV)

I have been a believer in Christ for many years. It has only been in the last three or four years that I have received greater insight into the Grace of God. This has injected me with energy to tell others about the blessed "rest" we have in Christ. Grace is not a theology but is a Person-- Jesus.
