Family Discusses the Importance of Christmas

Mike and his wife Mikki were preparing for Christmas.

"What do you want me to get you for Christmas?" Mike asked.

"Oh, I'm not too picky," Mikki replied. "Just a few basic necessities. The green purse I use for grocery shopping on Thursdays is worn out. It's losing its green, and I need to replace it."

Mikki told Mike she also needed a new car. "I haven't had a new vehicle in three years," she pouted. "I would really appreciate a new car."

Several months earlier, Mikki had asked for a new wardrobe. "None of my dresses fit any more," she had complained.

Now, with Christmas looming on the horizon, Mikki's desire for new clothes reached a new high. She reasoned, "I simply must have at least a half dozen new dresses for the arrival of the new year. If I don't get them, my confidence in Santa will be substantially diminished."

"Okay, you want a new green purse, a new green car and a new totally green wardrobe. Do you want anything else?"

"I could probably use a few more things, but I'll be happy if I get those bare necessities!"

Mikki asked her husband, "What do you want for Christmas, honey?"

"I prayed and asked the Lord to allow me to have Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off from work. Max, my boss has already approved the time off, so I already have my Christmas present. I just want to spend time with you and our daughter and go to the Christmas celebration at the church."

Mike continued, "The reason I celebrate Christmas is to honor the birth of Jesus, our savior. I don't get too excited about boxes of gifts wrapped in fancy ribbons and tied with pretty bows."

Michelle, the couple's five-year-old daughter, walked into the room. "Hi, Mommy and Daddy. When are you going to ask me what I want for Christmas?" she enquired.

"How about right now?" smiled Mikki.

"That's right," Mike agreed. "What do you want for Christmas, honey?"

"Well, let's seeI have you for my parents, and you are the best mom and dad in the world. My little brother Moses is the best brother in the world. I have the best grandparents in the world.

"I have Jesus as my savior. He came and was born in a stable and died on the cross for me. I have life forever in heaven with Him. What else could I ask for? It seems like I already have everything a little girl could ever want!"
