The Bible or the Holy Spirit

You might think that this is an odd title for an article but I hope to help some religious people understand something.

A person can know the Bible or the Word of God and be like an encyclopedia. They can quote every verse by book and number. They can have it all memorized and they appear very impressive as to the amount of knowledge that they posses. Yet, what to really do with the Word of God they do not know. They can preach it, teach it, try to win souls yet they have little results. The problem is that they are doing all this by the flesh. There is no power in their words or actions. God says that they which are in the flesh cannot please him. So even though they know so much it is coming from the flesh and it really not pleasing the Lord.

Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

A person cannot be saved without the Holy Spirit.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

God draws mankind to himself through the Holy Spirit. Jesus himself depended on the Holy Spirit as He only did what He saw His Father do and only spoke what He heard His Father say. He was totally dependent on the Holy Spirit. If we cannot please God in the flesh even by knowing the Word so strongly, then we need the Holy Spirit. Many have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof, from such turn away (2Ti 3:5). It takes the power of the Holy Spirit to bring about salvation, wisdom of what to do with the Word of God, to be led in the way that we should go, to bring healing and deliverance so that we and others may be changed into His image. The Holy Spirit is our power!

Paul said:
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

We are supposed to be crucified with Christ. That means our fleshly carnal mind is dead. We become a vessel. Next that Christ liveth in me by the faith of the Son of God. It is his faith and not ours. A dead man can no longer function or have faith. If this is true then Jesus is living in and through us by His power. He is still doing what he did before He went to Heaven but is now doing it through us by the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

The letter of the law kills or the legalism and religion that man thinks is pleasing to God but isn't as it is done by the flesh. It is the Spirit that gives to us life. The Word quickened by the Holy Spirit will bring life to people. The Holy Spirit knows what a person needs to hear and when it is the time to say something, We in our flesh do not know this.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Next who wrote the Bible? It was the Holy Spirit as he spoke to the men of old. He apparently knows the Word of God because he was the one that wrote it. If we have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit then as we need the Word He can speak it to us even without having a Bible. We are very blessed to have a Bible but if we only had the Holy Spirit we could be very effective and powerful as Jesus would be walking in and through us. We can know what the Holy Spirit wrote in the Bible and not know the one that wrote it. This is the difference between have a personal relationship with our Lord and just being religious. If we desire to truly know the one that wrote the Bible and walk in power then God made it possible for everyone to do. This is what He wants all of us to do. He wants intimacy with each one of us and does so by His Holy Spirit. We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit of God after we are saved so that we can walk close to Him and in His power. We are filled by asking to be filled by faith or we can go to a meeting where they pray for people to be filled or baptized in the Holy Spirit. I did not believe in this myself. But I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and it totally revolutionized my walk with the Lord. He did things through me that amazed me like seeing people healed, casting out demons. God is awesome if we will break free of our religion and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us.

Needless to say the answer to the title question of which, would be to me the Holy Spirit. Thank God that we do have both, but I wanted to show the difference and the real value of the Holy Spirit working in our life. No regrets as He is awesome!!!
