Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS BEING CONTINUOUSLY CONSCIOUS OF GOD'S COMPANY THROUGH PRAYER

Matthew 6:8
for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

When I was a child I used to love building string telephones. I'd ask my mom for two tin cans (with the edges well flattened to prevent injury) and a long piece of string. Then I'd make a hole in the base of each tin and thread each end of the string through these holes. After tying a knot on the ends of the string my friends and I would stand away from each other and, with tin in hand, would pull the string taut between the two tins. This would enable communication as one would put his tin to his ear while the other would speak into his tin. Somehow, provided the string was continuously taut, sound waves of my voice would travel down the string and resonate in the tin my buddy held to his ear. Wow! The miracles of science! Nowadays kids simply send a text by mobile phone. Where's the fun in that?

Prayer is an essential part of every Christian's life. In fact, prayer is one part of the 3-part harmony of Christian living, i.e. Bible reading, fellowship and prayer. Many Christians are afraid to pray, thinking they won't find the words to speak to God. The truth is, before a word finds its way to your lips your mind has experienced a thought, feeling or image. It then pushes that thought, feeling or image through to the language part of your brain, which finally forms the words and you speak. Words are simply the product of a thought, feeling or image. Well, prayer is not words; prayer is the expression of your heart's thoughts, feelings or images to your God in a way that sometimes uses words. Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak." He also said, "By your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned," because words reveal what is actually in the heart. Just the same, prayer comes from the heart. Prayer only uses words to express the thoughts, feelings or images in your heart. And God knows these thoughts even before you have the words to express them.

So you see, prayer is like the string of that string telephone. Before you can express a single word to your buddy you need to pull that string taut. Likewise, before you can speak words to God you need to open your heart in prayer. By the Holy Spirit Paul said, "Pray without ceasing." Now I know I cannot talk without ceasing but prayer is more than talking; prayer is an expression of the heart. Prayer is the string the conduit with which we continually commune with Father God. So let's be sure to keep that string taut!

I desire to live a lifestyle of payer

Pray
"Dear Father God, thank you for the privilege of prayer. I realise that prayer is more than words; prayer is the constant awareness of your constant presence, because of the access you have given me through Jesus Christ. Prayer is a mystery to me. I'll never understand how my humble words can move the hand of the Creator, but they do. Thank you Lord that you hear the thoughts of my heart before I am even able to articulate them. Dear Lord, I desire a deeper payer life. Dear Lord, I desire to live in the constant knowledge of your glorious presence every moment of every day. I desire to live a lifestyle of payer. Amen."
