Middle East Peace

Since the days of Abraham, there has been strife between the Middle East countries. Scripture gives us some interesting facts about this conflict...Gen. 17: 11-12 "And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou are with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the Lord hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren."

World leaders over the centuries have tried to bring a peaceful solution to the warring countries of the Middle East, as they have in other parts of the world. While peace came to the countries of Europe after the world wars, all efforts by man to bring peace to the Middle East have failed

When in Greece with Air Force, President Eisenhower arrived Dec 11 1959 on a tour of "Mission Of Peace" to Middle East countries, also Italy and Greece. and several other countries. At that time Greece had a King and Queen and they met our president at the Airport, where I was stationed with the 7206th Support Group.
(This is a brief summary of the information we were given about activities for this historic day)


Our area will be closed to all military personnel and suggest we see the Presidential procession along the King George Highway. . Estimate number of people to welcome "IKE" will exceed a million up to 2 million.. The president and his party are traveling in three 707's, the Columbine, 8 C-130's. an Air Sea rescue SA 16, and 6 Marine helicopters from the ship Chadwell of the Sixth Fleet. A squadron of fighters of the Royal Hellenic Air Force will meet the Presidential plane when it enters the Greek sky.

After His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Queen, greet the President the Royal Hellenic Army will fire a 21 gun salute.. Following the Army Band will play the national anthems. The President will say a brief greeting to the Greek nation which will be broadcast by all Greek radio stations.( No mention of TV stations in Greece)

The President and His Majesty the King will ride in the first Royal car which will be led by two Palace cars and a large motorcycle escort. President will be quest of the Royal Family during his stay.

On Tuesday at 4 PM the President will leave Athens from the Olympic Stadium by helicopter to the Airport. A large number of school children will fill the stadium to watch the departure. The President will depart the Athens Airport at 5:10 PM ( five minutes after sundown) So the trip to bring peace to the Middle East continued.
Whatever man tries, there will never be any peace in the Middle East until our LORD returns. Peace with God can only be found through the cross of Christ, the Prince of Peace Man's greatest problem is not his war with man but rather his war against God. This is the war that rages in the heart and can only be won by repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by the people of the Middle East and the world.
