Captivated by Christ Alone

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is," (Jeremiah 17:7 KJV).

Have you been captivated by Christ alone, having put your confidence in his great salvation? Then never allow anything to destroy that trust, because it's easy to be seduced and captivated by something other than Jesus. People, even spiritual entities you might never suspect can become interlopers and spoilers if you let them. Being captivated by Christ alone is to recognize you can trust Him implicitly, so you no longer feel the need to reach out for something other than Jesus.

When in doubt spiritually, always trust in the words and the promises of God over and above the words and the promises of people. God might use an individual to point you in His direction, but he will never use individuals to replace Himself and His Word. People who mean well can make all kinds of claims for solving your problems. They may rubber stamp you. They may tell you to do this or that in order to get this or that in return. But they can't see the whole you like God can. He knows what you need. Make it your mission to get what God is telling you to do - and believe it. That's what you need to get. If you trust in the Lord and listen to what He is telling you to do, he'll not only fix your problem, He'll give you the grace to do whatever he asks. This will save a lot of confusion. Become a student of God's Word - and see what happens.

Dear Lord, may we always reach out to you and your Word, and find you sufficient to meet our thirst for God.
