New Year-Your Green Pasture Is In You

Are you a looking for a greener pasture this year? Or are you wondering where to go for a better life? It is the heart desire of many people to have a better year this year than it was last year, and they are at a crossroad, wondering where to turn into. This article gives you a lead on which way to turn into.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4, NKJV,emphasizes mine)

Then the Lord appeared to him and said: "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father...Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. (Genesis 26:2-3, 12, NKJV)

The desire for greener pasture didn't start today. People have desired it since ancient times, most especially during famine. Isaac found himself in such a situation at one time. There was famine in the land during Isaac's time and most likely, he wanted to go to Egypt in search of a greener pasture, but the Lord, the God of his father Abraham advised him not to go to Egypt. God asked him to remain in that supposedly land of famine and that He would be with him and bless him. The scriptures make us to understand in Genesis 26:12, that Isaac obeyed and sowed in that same land and reaped a hundredfold the same year and the Lord blessed him as He had promised.

So, your green pasture is in you, not really outside where you are presently.

I heard my Pastor say in one of the services that your green pasture is in you, and I was prompted to write on it. There is an adage in my community that what you are looking for afar of is actually within you. And that is the case with searching for greener pasture. What you need to do is to look inwards, so as not to make mistakes.

What is the green pasture in you?

God is the green pasture you are actually looking for and He is in you if you are a child of God. God is all you need to have a better new year; the greater one is in you (1 John 4:4). What you need is the guidance of the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, the one that knows the end from the very beginning, the God of the whole universe, Creator of heaven and earth.

Was there famine in the land where Isaac was? Yes, there was. The difference was that the green pasture was in him and not actually in Egypt.

So, what next?

Seek God's face for divine guidance. God told Isaac to live in the land which He was going to tell him. He told him to remain in the land of the Philistines and he did. So, find out from God where you should stay. Engaging fasting and prayer is a good channel of seeking God's face, which I recommend to you. God knows where He has prepared abundance for you and it's your duty to find it out (Proverbs 25:2).

It may be where you are presently, no matter how it looks now (like the case of Isaac).This includes your present city, job, business or place of work. You may not need to change any of them. Also, it may be that you need to change your job, business, place of work or city. Do go to God in prayer, get guidance and be sure. And when God is with you, all forces must comply to God's dictates even if they were otherwise, just like the land yielded hundredfold to Isaac though there was famine in the land.

One thing is certain, God can never mislead you, for He agrees with you that this year would be better than last year (Proverbs 4:18). Endure the pain and discomfort for a short period to secure God's guidance and direction, and you are sure to rest in pleasure for a much longer time.
