Chapter One

Three Forms of Healing

There are 3 forms of healing, namely:

i. natural healing (plants, animals, natural resources, and so on)

Proverbs 24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

So honey is good for your health provided it's not too much!

Proverbs 25:27 (NIV) says, "It is not good to eat TOO MUCH HONEY..."

Original honey, which is a natural antibiotic, has been said to tackle cough, some skin infections, memory loss, wounds, and so on.

Isaiah 38:21 For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.

Ezekiel 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Revelation 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

From Ezekiel 47 and Revelation 22 above, we can see the expressions: "the leaf thereof for medicine" and "the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations" respectively.

Both are similar indicating that leaves are more of medicine for healing!

On the other hand, the expressions "the fruit thereof shall be for meat" and "which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month" from Ezekiel 47 and Revelation 22 respectively point to the truth that fruits are more of food for strength.

Generally, both leaves and fruits are good as food and medicine; but LEAVES are more as MEDICINES while FRUITS are more as FOODS!

In other words, fruits are more of preventive whereas leaves are more of curative. (Don't forget that both fruits and leaves are preventive and curative at the same time; but one is more preventive and the other is more curative.)

Have you heard this saying: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"? Prevention is still far better than cure.

A balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables will prevent and protect the body against sicknesses and diseases.

Some fruits and leaves are most effective when freshly plucked and taken in their raw form without cooking or boiling.

Some others are better cooked, but too much heat may weaken the natural powers of some while adequate heat may be necessary to bring out the greatest healing powers of some others.

A elderly man in the Bible school we run was healed years ago through natural leaves.

Actually, he had a kidney disease. The nurse treating him referred him to the hospital.

So he went to the General Hospital, but sadly, the doctors were trying to avoid him.

Eventually, he went back home. Then as he was listening to music, he received a divine message to use certain leaves for his treatment.

So he got those leaves and used them and was completely healed! Glory to God.

A woman testified to us that her fibroid was cured when the man treated her. And God has used natural leaves to cure quite some people through him. Praise GOD!

This man told me that the Lord instructed him to let the people squeeze the liquid out of the leaves and drink raw as it is more effective than boiling the leaves in water before drinking the boiled solution!

There was the story of a doctor in Taiwan who treated people with natural apple juice combined with other things for a period of 6 days. And the result?

Patients had their gallstones removed naturally without surgery! The healing power of apple!

No wonder it has been said over the years, "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away."

It is a fact that apple cider vinegar (from apple juice) and molasses (byproduct of sugarcane) can naturally shrink fibroids.

A man in the church I was pastoring then shared a powerfully strange, but true testimony.

He said a Nigerian man who had a swollen stomach met an Indian man or so who told him to go and drink his own urine.

He tried it out and defecated or shit a live tortoise!

Urinotherapy, which is using urine to treat sicknesses or diseases, has been said to be effective in healing almost any disease. It can combat tuberculosis, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, infertility, kidney failure, liver problem, and so on. Please read "Your Own Perfect Medicine" by Martha M. Christy. It's one of the best books along this line.

1 Timothy 5:23 reads, "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities."

This is non-alcoholic fruit wine, and not alcoholic wine.

Paul was instructing Timo to take little fruit wine (not much wine) in addition to normal water as natural remedy for his stomach trouble.

Water also has been discovered to help in preventing or treating some sicknesses or diseases if it's used correctly.

David Werner wrote in his wonderful book, 'Where There is No Doctor', "If people simply learned how to use water correctly, this alone might do more to prevent and cure illnesses than all the medicines they now use ... and misuse.
"If everyone living in farms and villages made the best use of water, the amount of sickness and death - especially of children - could probably be cut in half."

He gave the example that correct use of water is essential both in preventing as well as in treating diarrhea.

Then he gave a list of ailments for which water is frequently more vital than medicines.

Similarly, Don Colbert, medical doctor, noted in his fantastic book, 'The Bible Cure for High Blood Pressure', "Often an individual with elevated blood pressure is placed on medication when all he really needs is a drink of water. When high blood pressure is detected early enough, simply drinking two to three quarts of filtered water a day can usually bring it back to normal."

He also submitted that the best way to treat high blood pressure is to change one's diet and lifestyle (doing exercise, thinking rightly, resting well, recreating, living a relaxed life, being joyful, doing a job that is compatible with one's health and fulfilment, and so on), DRINK MORE WATER, reduce stress, lose weight as well as take nutritional supplements and minerals.

But he advised one to go for medication under a doctor if one's blood pressure is still high after using natural remedy.

A renowned prophet in this nation collapsed sometime last year while addressing some people. He was rushed to the hospital where he was put on a compulsory medication of 2 litres of water per day. He admitted that he had not been taking enough water.

His collapse was due to exhaustion: over-work and enormous pressure from people. So he needed rest as well as stress reduction.

I read an article online days ago about the health benefits of drinking water. It's recommended by health experts that one should take at least 8 glasses of water daily.

The writer explains that drinking enough water has been discovered to prevent colon cancer and bladder cancer. It also boosts energy and immune system of the body, helping the body to fight diaseses off.

Wonderfully, it controls mood swing so that there is emotional balance by reducing mental stress and depression.

Water is also a good sleeping medicine.1

I challenge you to research on the natural healing powers of moringa leaves, alovera leaves, and so on.

As matter of caution, don't get involved in invoking evil spirits into leaves before using them as some do. It's unscriptural.

ii. scientific healing (medicine or surgery)

Colossians 4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.

Luke, the writer of the Gospel according to Saint Luke and of the Acts of the Apostles was a doctor.

He witnessed the ministry of Jesus as well as those of the Early Church apostles, prophets and so on.

The question is: why on earth would God choose a doctor to follow his apostles and prophets around, travelling with them occasionally and eventually writing their stories?

I'm of the opinion that he probably gave them some medical advice on proper diet, rest, exercise, and so on.

Matthew 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

The NIV puts Jesus' statement in Mat 9:12 above thus: "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick."

It's totally unwise to refuse a doctor's help when you need most, especially in an emergency!

How many church people: missionaries, pastors, women, children, and so on have died prematurely because they chose to ignore scientific healing based on the limited revelation they had?

God gave Oral Roberts, the late renowned evangelist, the great task of merging PRAYER and MEDICINE. (Read his book: "Still Doing the Impossible.")

Paul wrote 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part...
13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things (1 Corinthians 13:9,11).

Why should a church punish, discipline or excommunicate a member for taking medicine or undergoing surgery that God may use to save his or her life?

Solomon noted in ECCLESIASTES 7:15-18 (ASV) All this have I seen in my days of vanity: there is a righteous man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his evil-doing.
7:16 Be not righteous overmuch; neither make thyself overwise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
7:17 Be not overmuch wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?
7:18 It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from that withdraw not thy hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth from them all.

The NIV renders verse 18 above thus: "It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God WILL AVOID ALL EXTREMES."

Anyone who condemns or forces people not to embrace medicine and surgery (when it is necessary) is either overrighteous or over-wicked, over-wise or foolish!

Most importantly, I also know that we should not build our faith on medicine and surgery, because it's just God permissive will for us.

His perfect will for us is to live beyond medicine and surgery, yes, to live on God's medicine, which is God's Word to bring us healing and health!

Remember that the Bible says the just shall live by his own faith; not faith in medicine and surgery, but faith in God's unfailing Word (Habakkuk 2:4).

You see, medicine and surgery may fail, but God's Word never fails.

A wise man has connoted that doctors can help to keep us alive until we can develop our faith in God and His word!

iii. supernatural healing (divine or demonic)

God's Supernatural Healing

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

The Bible is full of supernatural healing testimonies.

Also Jesus has continued his healing ministry through different members of his body.

For example, R. W. Shambach shared the powerful story of how A. A. Allen was used of God to heal a little boy of 26 major diseases.

While ministering he received a word of knowledge about a less-than-3-year-old boy, and the mother ran out with the helpless boy! Doctors didn't expect him to live up to his first birthday.

He was born blind in one eye, deaf, dumb, tongue sticking out of his mouth, both arms deformed and crippled, both legs deformed and crippled, feet clubbed and his elbows touching his knees.

The mother put the boy in A. A. Allen's hands. And as he ministered or prayed, the boy's tongue withdrew into his mouth for the first time in his life.

God also gave him brand new eyes, unstopped his ears and loosed his tongue. His arms and legs stretched out and became normal while his bent feet snapped back to their places!

And for the very first time in his life, he could see, talk and walk! The crowd went wild with excitement and rejoicing.

The following Monday, the mum took him to the hospital and when the doctors received him, they refused to release him to the mother, but kept him all week and invited all the doctors all over the country who were involved in his cased.

All of them certified him completely and genuinely healed of 26 different diseases. He was given an affidavit! Glory to God!2

Satan's Supernatural Healing

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

2 Thessalonians 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

There are counterfeit healings and miracles performed through magical powers.

I learnt from Kurt Koch, the Chinese minister, that if a believer for example, goes to a magician or sorcerer for healing of his leg, he may receive the healing, but then he may notice that he cannot read his Bible or pray again. He may begin to strange demonic experiences. He has sold out his soul to Satan!

Special Notes:
1. God can heal through any of the 3 forms of healing.

2. You may combine 2 or the 3 forms of healing sometimes to get the desired results.

3. Some sicknesses and diseases can only answer to God's supernatural healing.

4. Trust wholeheartedly and acknowledge God as your Healer naturally, scientifically or supernaturally.

2 Chronicles 16:12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
16:13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

5. It's sheer ignorance, deception or wickedness to preach against medicine, surgery or natural herbs condemning them as evil or sin as well as forbidding people from using them.

6. If Satan heals an unbeliever or a believer supernaturally, it has serious consequences.

Chapter Two

Healing Can Be Received or Hindered

Mark 6:5 And he [Jesus] could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Jesus had success in his healing ministry, but not in his own hometown.

Their unbelief or lack of faith caused by familiarity complex hindered many from receiving their healing.

He only had limited results there. So he went about the villages teaching the Word because faith (which they lacked) comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Rom 10:17).

Some ignorant fellows will start calling a healing minister all kinds of evil names because they or somebody else did not get healed through that minister.

They are damned wrong for thinking that healing is automatic.

It's true that at times Jesus healed every sick person present in a meeting (Matthew 12:15, Luke 6:19). But at a particular time, he could not heal all the sick present except few.

Jeremiah 8:22 (NIV) Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?

Whether it was spiritual, emotional or physical healing of the Israelites, something hindered the healing.

So Prophet Jeremiah was lamenting because God the great physician could not heal them with his healing balm of Gilead!

Kenneth Hagin shared a remarkable testimony in his outstanding book, 'The Name of Jesus.'

He was praying at the bedside of a sick dying missionary when Jesus Christ appeared and stood close to the foot of the bed.

So he simply announced that Jesus had come to heal him.

Then he got out of bed, ran and stood in front of Jesus at the foot of the bed. Though he didn't see him, nevertheless he sensed His Presence.

The man tried to receive his healing from Jesus 3 different times, but each time he confessed "I can't. I can't receive my healing."

Then Jesus told Hagin in a sad tone that he had come to heal that man and he wouldn't allow him and that he would be dead in some days' time! What a pity!

So he died. But wrong thinking, believing and confession hindered his healing.

It was the fault of neither the Lord nor the healing minister, but of the sick man.

Sometimes, it could be the fault of the healing minister, but the Lord can never be at fault (Matthew 17:14-21, John 18:37-38).

I remember a time Oral Roberts was ministering healing to the Chinese people with the laying on of hands. (Actually, Oral Roberts had a special healing anointing in his right hand; William Branham had his in his left hand; while Kenneth Hagin had in both hands. Please be careful with the doctrines or heresies of William Branham for they can derail and destroy you! God raised him but he missed God and that led to his premature death. Read his story in God's Generals by Roberts Liardon.)

But unfortunately, none of them got healed in spite of the healing anointing on Oral Roberts. So after the meeting, someone explained to him that the Chinese didn't like that someone lay hands on them when praying for them. It offended them in a sense.

So he explained to them the following day before he started praying for them. In fact, he asked for a woman's permission before he laid hands on her. Then healing began to take place as expected!

By God's grace, I have written extensively on hindrances to receiving healing in my book: "Why Some Are Not Healed," which is volume 2 in this Healing and Health series.

It contains 30 different hindrances to healing as revealed in the Scriptures.

Chapter Three

Healing Can Be Gradual or Instant

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Isaiah 38:21 For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.

Natural, scientific and supernatural healing can be gradual or instant.

The word "recover" in these 2 scriptures above speaks of gradual healing.

Some get discouraged if their healing is not instant. They may begin to think maybe the healing minister is using demonic powers for healing or that the healing is false or imaginary.

Some healings are gradual for reasons best known to God. But I think he may want to teach the sick person some lessons as he recovers gradually.

At other times, it may be gradual due to the level of faith, preparation, consecration, sensitivity to God's Spirit or anointing of the healing minister.

Chapter Four

Healing Can Be Partial or Total

Mark 8:22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
8:23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
8:24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
8:25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

Wow! I love this. As greatly anointed as Jesus was he had to pray for this blind man's healing two different times.

Some healing ministers, out of pride, might not want to minister healing two, three, five, or more times to the same sick person as the need arises and at the leading of God's Spirit.

Luke 17:11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
17:14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
17:16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

You see, 10 lepers were healed, but only one of them was completely made whole.

There is a difference between a leper whose body parts have been eaten up getting healed and his being made whole.

After leprosy is healed, there are still some scars that need to go. There may also be the need for a new skin layer and so on!

How can I forget in a hurry the awesome healing testimony of a late renowned prophet?

Because of his disobedience in ministry, he had an accident and broke his arm.

He had to wear a sling. And the doctor told him that his healing would take quite some time, but the Lord told him He would speed up the healing process!

The most striking part of it was that the Lord promised to heal him 99 percent. And that was what He did. He would use the remaining 1 percent to keep him in check whenever he tried to yield to disobedience!

You see, 99 percent healing is still partial healing. There are people whom the Lord will never heal completely so that He can help keep them in the path of life, highway of holiness and track of destiny.

It's like the limp of Jacob that must have refused to go away (Genesis 32).

Sometimes, if the sick person is not fully ready to receive the healing or to live in full obedience to God, his healing may be partial.
Chapter Five

Healing Can Be Retained or Lost

John 5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
5:9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath...
5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Jesus was warning this man who had just been healed not to toy with sin so that a worse sickness or more terrible disease would not come upon him.

In other words, he was trying to admonish him not to lose his healing.

You see, it's easier to lose one's healing than to receive it!

Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

As we can see from these two Scriptures whenever one loses one's healing or deliverance, one gets a worse ailment, disease or demonic oppression.

A wrong mindset, attitude or confession can make one lose one's healing.

You must make sure your heart is not empty, swept, and garnished but filled with God's Spirit, washed or cleansed with God' Word and decorated with the fruit of the spirit (John 15:3, Ephesians 5:25-27, Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:18, Acts 2: 1-4, Acts 4:31, Galatians 5:22-23).

Fred Smith, in his book: "God's Gifts of Healing," relayed the experience of Hiliary who after being healed began to have pains again. The prayer of her friend, Jeannie, helped the pains to leave each time she prayed.

Eventually, she denied her healing saying, "It wasn't God healing me after all, just some kind of electric shock."

Numbers 14:28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you.

That was the beginning of her mysteries and woes. Her pains came back powerfully until she was where she started from. She lost the healing!

As she spoke in the ears of the Lord, so did the Lord do to her. Our confessions will help or hinder our healing.

But it took her almost a year to receive her healing back. It was gradual, but certain.

About 9 years later, she was still completely healed and ministering healing to others. What a mighty God we serve!

Chapter Six

Healing Is Not the Same as Deliverance; But Sometimes Deliverance Is a Precondition for Healing

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Luke 9:42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

In both scriptures above, casting out demons (commonly called deliverance) comes before healing the sick.

Of a truth, in Luke 9:42 above, Jesus had to cast out a devil before he could heal that child!

Jesus commanded his disciples in Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

We need to preach deliverance and healing first before we can minister deliverance and healing effectively to people with wonderful results.

Luke 4:18 implies that we are "to preach deliverance to the captives, and [to preach] recovering of sight [or healing] to the blind.

Chapter Seven

Healing Can Be for a Sick Body, Crushed Emotions, Deranged Mind or Wounded Spirit

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Anyone whose heart has been broken by friends or enemies, spouse or siblings, parents or children, sinners or saints can find healing in God.

How many people's hearts has been broken or crushed by loss of a relation or friend, loss of job or position, loss of money or possessions, loss of reputation or honour, loss of virginity, loss of opportunity, and so on?

No matter what has broken our heart, God says there is healing for the brokenhearted!

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

God is concerned about the well-being of our soul as well as that of our body according to this epistle or letter of John.

PSALMS 34:18 (BBE) The Lord is near the broken-hearted; he is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down.

Chapter Eight

Healing Is Made Easy When the Three Main Causes of Sickness/Disease Are Dealt With

i. Breaking of God's law of the spiritual realm

Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Exodus 23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
23:21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.
23:22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
23:23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.
23:24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.
23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
23:26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.

Disobedience to God's word and God's call on your life can cause serious sickness or disease.

ii. Breaking of God's law of the mental realm

Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) Above all else, GUARD YOUR HEART for it is the wellspring of life.

Your thinking can cause you sickness and disease because as a man thinks in his heart or mind, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).

You need to guard, that is, protect your heart against wrong thinking.

You see, not all wrong thinkings are sinful, but all sinful thinkings are wrong!

For example, it's wrong to think ignorantly that it's all right to fall sick or that sicknesses and diseases are badges of good and humble Christians. Such thinking born out of ignorance is wrong, but not sinful.

If you think sick, then you will be sick for as you think in your heart, so are you.

iii. Breaking of God's law of the natural realm

Proverbs 25:27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

So too much honey is bad!

Proverbs 23:4 (NIV) reads, "Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint."

I put this Pro 23:4 above as: "Don't squander or exhaust your health to get wealth. Be wise to control or withdraw yourself."

You see, too much honey, too much sugar, too much salt, too much seasoning, too much water, too much fats and oils, too much carbohydrate, too much protein, too much work, too much sleep, too much eating, too much sitting, and so on can cause serious help problem.

For instance, some people in Brazil have had their hands amputated or cut off due to chronic diabetes caused by too much sugar.

You see, my family and I don't eat Indomie instant noodles because of what I discovered about it. Neither do we allow our daughter to take Bobo drink!

As a matter of fact, many people are battling with terrible but avoidable sicknesses and diseases today because of taking more of processed foods and drinks, but less of natural foods and drinks.

Chapter Nine

Healing Is the Children's Bread while Health Is the Adults' Meat

Mark 7:25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
7:26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.7:27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.7:28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
7:29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
7:30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

Here Jesus was referring to deliverance as children's bread.

From my study of the Bible, personal experience and exposure, I have come to the conclusion that DELIVERANCE and HEALING are children's bread while DOMINION and HEALTH are adults' meat.

Secrets of Sound Health

1. Trust

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Faith is also defined as trust, reliance, dependence or leaning on God. Without faith or trust in God, you can't please him (Hebrews 11:6).

2. Obedience

Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

3. Good Nutrition

It is written of Elijah in 1 KINGS 19:5-8 (ASV) And he lay down and slept under a juniper-tree; and, behold, an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 And he looked, and, behold, there was at his head a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of Jehovah came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for thee.
8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

4. Exercise

1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

5. Rest

Mark 6:31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
6:32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

Also Elijah needed to rest for health reasons because the best medicine for burn-out or exhaustion is enough rest accompanied by a good diet (see 1 Kings 19:5-8).

6. Merry Heart

Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken...
15:15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

Zechariah 9:17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.

Deuteronomy 28:47 Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
28:48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

2 Corinthians 7:4 Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

7. Hearty Laughter

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: ... 3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

Ecclesiastes 10:19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

Proverbs 14:13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

Laughter is medicine. My pastor in those days told us of a guy who perhaps had a terrible or incurable ailment or disease.

He didn't give up or commit suicide. Rather he went and watched one or more funny movies alone which really made him laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh ... until he laughed away his sickness or disease!

Friend, I wish you will just take some moments right now and just laugh and laugh and laugh. Try and do that daily. You may watch clean comedies or listen to some funny stuffs that make you laugh off your stress and distress.

God laughs, too (Psalm 2:4).

8. Sound and Right Mind

Proverbs 14:30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

The Amplified Bible renders this verse as: A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.

1 Peter 3:10 (AMP) For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good - whether apparent or not] ... turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right. Let him search for peace (harmony; undisturbedness from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts) and seek it eagerly. [Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them!]

Also we should have the right mind or thinking that a Christian should not live a life of sickness because by His stripes or wounds we were healed!

You cannot think sickness or disease, and live in health.

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: ...

9. Good Confession

Proverbs 12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

1 Peter 3:10 (AMP) For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good - whether apparent or not] , keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit).

10. Spiritual Intimacy with God

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Proverbs 18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

As you draw near to God who is a consuming fire, and as you spend enough quality time with him daily in true worship, deep study of the word and so on, his strength is imparted to your spirit, soul and body. Also he consumes all roots and traces of diseases and sicknesses by the fire of his presence!

I pray that you may know this God intimately as a consuming fire in Jesus' most precious name.

Chapter Ten

Healing Can Be Ministered or Received Supernaturally in Different Ways

i. the Word of God

Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

The Lord told Kenneth E. Hagin in 1948 that He did not put the name of Jesus and the gifts of healings in the church for the church to heal themselves with; but rather He put them in the church for the church to heal the world with!

Actually, when the Lord sent the eleven apostles to the world, he told them to use His name to bring healing and deliverance to the world of unbelievers.

Mark 16:15-18 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

So if the Lord did not intend from the beginning that the church should receive their healing through the name of Jesus, so what then did he put in the church for the healing of the church?

Praise God for he has put his Word in the church for the healing of the church!

You see, the Word of God is exalted, magnified or lifted up above the name of Jesus.

Psalm 138:2 ... for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

In fact, 1 Peter 2:24 says ... by whose stripes ye were healed.

See that! There is a big difference between "Be healed in Jesus' name" and "According to his word, by his stripes or wounds I was healed."

Proverbs 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.4:21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
4:22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

The AMP version renders verse 22 above as: "For they are life to those who find them, HEALING AND HEALTH TO ALL THEIR FLESH."

ii. the Name of Jesus

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
3:7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
3:8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

The name of Jesus stands for the person of Jesus. In fact, the name of Jesus carries the power of Jesus. That name can do everything Jesus can do.

When Jesus shows up every knee must bow. In the same way, at the name of Jesus every knee compulsorily bows (Phil 2:9).

I discovered that the name of Jesus will work for you to the degree that you know Jesus personally and intimately as well as your level of faith and obedience to him (Acts 19: 13-17, Phil 3:10, James 4:7).

Also you need to give people the word of God first to raise their faith, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Then after giving them the undiluted and living word, you can prayer for them using the all-powerful name of Jesus expecting the Lord Jesus to confirm His word with signs following (Mark 16:17-20, John 14:12-14)!

Laying hands on people or anointing them with oil or using any other scriptural physical point of contact will help release some people's faith faster or better (Mark 6:13, Mark 16:17-18, James 5:14-15).

iii. the gifts of the Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

The original Greek text rendered gifts of healing above as "GIFTS OF HEALINGS."

Buddy Harrison suggested that there are probably 39 gifts of healings since Jesus received 39 stripes or lashes and medical science, according to him, has discovered there are 39 classes of diseases.

Interestingly, Ed Robert explained in his revealing book "Ministering in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit" that it seems those moving in the gifts of healing(s) have greater success in specific areas, but lesser success in other areas of healing the sick!

Then he wrote that some may have big success in ministering to people with back problems; whereas others have in ministering to folks with eye problems; while some in ministering to people with lung problems!

Truths to Remember about the Gifts of Healings

1. You can't operate it as you wish, but the Holy Spirit does as he desires (1 Corinthians 12:11, Hebrews 2:4).

2. You may desire the gifts of healings and seek God to use you in that realm (1 Corinthians 12:31; 1 Corinthians 14:1).

3. Not all believers move or will move in the gifts of healings (1 Corinthians 12:27-30).

4. You don't always have to pray before they operate.

Peter's shadow healed the sick and aprons or handkerchiefs from Paul's body healed the sick. Those healings took place without the conscious effort of those men of God (Acts 5:15-16; Acts 19:11-12).

5. You may not need to call the name of Jesus before the healing take place. The reason is that the name of Jesus is a healing tool just the gifts of healings are a healing tool!

6. Making a physical point of contact (such as laying on of hands, anointing with oil, using water or handkerchief, or such like) will help some people to receive their healing more easily (Mark 6:13, Mark 16:17-18, James 5:14).

But such practice is designed by God for unbelievers and spiritual babes in Christ! Check your Bible and church history.

7. If you preach the true word of God to propel the people's faith to receive their healing, then God will confirm his preached word with signs and wonders hollowing (Rom 10:17, Mark 16:15-20, Matthew 4:23).

8. Your level of prayer and fasting does not compel God to operate the gifts of healings through you, but it will help you greatly if God is using you or wants to use you in ministering with the gifts of healings (Matthew 17:19-21).

9. The gifts of healings are not basically for the healing of the believers, including the healing minister, though God may permit them to heal believers, especially spiritual babes for a while till they will learn to live by their own faith in God's word as required by God (Habakkuk 2:4).

10. The gift of working of miracles is quite different from the gifts of healings (1 Corinthians 12:9-10, 28-30).

While the former can change water to wine, multiply food, increase fuel in a car, bring divinely strange financial provision, result in creative miracles in the bodies of human beings, animals and plants, and so on, the latter is limited to healing of all manners of sicknesses and diseases. It can also heal marriages, careers, ministries, destinies, hurts, and so on.

Do you agree with me that a man who has only one leg or a woman without a womb does not need healing but miracle to get a brand new leg or womb?

But we can see from 1 Corinthians 12:28-30 that the teaching ministry is more important than the miracle working ministry, just as the miracle working ministry is greater than the healing ministry!

11. The gifts of healings can be imparted to a believer by another believer (Romans 1:11).

12. The purity, holiness or character of a person who carries the healing anointing on the gifts of healings will determine his effectiveness and longevity in ministry. How effective is he or she? How long will he or she last in ministry? Ask Samson. Check church history. Search your bible.

13. The healing anointing on the gifts of healings can be stirred as the carrier confesses and meditates on the Word as well as fasts and prays with the spirit and mind (Luke 4:1-14).

14. The healing anointing on the gifts of healings can be increased only as the carrier uses it in obedience to God (Matthew 25:14-17, 19-23, 28-29).

15. The healing anointing on the gifts of healings can be diminished, reduced or lost if the carrier neglects it or refuses to use it in obedience to God (Matthew 25:18, 24-30, 1 Timothy 4:14).

iv. the Holy Communion

1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Matthew 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

Just as taking the Holy Communion unworthily can inflict weakness, sickness or death on one; so can taking it worthily in faith bring healing, health and many other blessings to one.

Therefore, I receive the Holy Spirit by faith right now and I begin to speak in an unknown tongue (unlearned tongue) as He gives me the utterance.
I command every foul spirit [spirit of fear, spirit of unbelief, spirit of doubt, religious spirit, unforgiving spirit] wanting to hinder me to stop in its evil operation in my life in Jesus name.
Thank you God for filling me with your Spirit in Jesus name (Amen).
