When our nation's founding fathers established this nation, they looked to the Lord in prayers for his guidance. Now for generations, we have had laws and leaders that operated within the framework based on Christian moral principles. But in recent decades, we have seen Christianity mocked by our pop culture, media, and now even the courts on this nation.

I wonder what is next for the American Christians? While we see the American culture becoming more hostile towards traditional Christians, we have not yet reached the point that we are not a Christian nation. Our president has said to the world that we are no longer a Christian nation, however, the majority of our residents say they are Christians in some manner. Recent studies have reported about 31% of the nations people attend churches, many weekly and others only on religious holidays.

When my ancestors came to America in 1630 as Puritans, nearly everyone was a church member and even when my g grandfather, who lived in 1900, most residents attend the church of their choice. When the "Silent Generation" was alive during the great depression and the world war, they turned to God for guidance and protection.

As our government took over functions that were performed by churches. people began to look to the government for the answers to their trials and tribulations. Now, most American Christians have little knowledge of our nation's Christian founders and how they looked to the Lord for guidance. Also, few Christians seem to have any interest in discovering the tenets of their faith and so are not in a position to defend it.

Many modern American Christians want to be comfortable allowing Christianity to be defined by the US courts and have their church abide by whatever is decided. It looks like we will have two different Christian communities in this country. Those that live by the Bible God's Word and those that are comfortable with an easy ticket to heaven, but do little as a believer.

Those lukewarm Christians, I pray they will again read God's Word the Bible as it tells us in Matthew 5: 14-16. ' Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

With today's shrinking moral common ground in America, we can stand strong. Over the centuries, since our Lord Jesus Christ returned to heaven to be at the right hand of his Father God over 2,000 years ago, Christians have been seen as foolish in the eyes of the culture. It is important for us work to preserve our Christian community and love our neighbors, church family, God, and His Word.

Trust we will all make time this Sunday and attend the church of our choice as we worship our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
