THE DIVINE EXCHANGE

What does it mean to be "in Christ"?

I compare it to being in a space capsule re-entering earths atmosphere. Outside the environs of the capsule, which is protected by a heat shield, I would not survive re-entry - I would burn up. While I remain in the inner environs of the space module, I'm preserved, protected and hidden. (Col 3:3) ( Ep 2:13 )

Christ's Blood is 'the Protection Factor' shielding me. I call it the Son factor. While I remain 'in Christ' and under His Blood, I will not be consumed by the Holy requirements of a Holy God. I read of these daunting requirements in the Law of Moses. (Lev, Num, Deut.)

By dying on the Cross and shedding His Blood, Jesus took upon himself all that should have been meted out on me. I'm now enfolded or encapsulated by His Righteousness.

At this point I must clarify: God being holy and unflinching with regards sin, doesn't mean that He loves me less. No! No! No! It simply means He cannot and will not compromise His Holy standards. That for me is hugely assuring. Anything less would make me worried.

His love for me is underscored by the fact that he sent heavens best, His Beloved, His only Son to take on the stature and form of a man, to be the perfect sacrifice.

God the Son perfectly complied to the extreme moral standards of a Holy God.(Jn. 3:16).

Without fear of contradiction, God is a good God, who adores us with a white hot love.(Jn.15:9)(Jn.17:23) He took extreme measures to rescue us from our terrible predicament.

"Without the shedding of Blood there is no remission of sin."
(He 9:22)(Rom.5:9)

When Jesus died on the Cross and shed His Blood, the way was cleared for me to approach God with boldness. (Matt 25:51) ( He 4:16)

I can now call on Abba God, which means Daddy God, and have endless fellowship with Him.(Gal.4:6) In the past I was doomed to be consumed so to speak.
My fallen sin nature prevented me from approaching Him. (Rom.5:12)

However, God made a plan.
"He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for (me), so that (I) might become the righteousness of God in Him." (2Cor.5:21)
(Changed into first person for clarity)

"What the law could not do since it was limited by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending His own Son in flesh like
(mine) under sin's domain, and as a sin offering, in order that the law's requirement would be accomplished in (me) who (does) not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." (Ro 8:3,4HCSB)
(Changed into first person by me for clarity)

In this way Jesus identified with me without compromising Gods Holy standards.

I now approach the Father through Jesus His Righteous Son.

The moment I ducked under His umbrella, accepting His sacrifice, I moved into a position of cover and protection. This is what scripture calls being, "in Him."

I now have by grace through faith in Christ, been made righteous. I have been embraced, accepted and encapsulated by His Righteousness.

Not my righteousness which is self righteousness. No! absolutely not - HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The sum and substance of it all is: when I accept Christ, the Father sees me through the lens of His Son Jesus. He will never ever condemn me again - In law that would be called "double jeopardy." (Ro 8:1) One cannot be tried twice for the same crime.
"For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified "(Heb 10:14KJV)

As has been said, the Fathers anger or wrath with regards the sin factor, was fully satisfied, spent and vented on His own beloved Son. The Father even turning His back on His Son so that He would never turn His back on us.....ever. (Mk 15:34)

"Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath."(Ro 5:9HCSB)

A Divine exchange took place. - His life for mine.

My humble acceptance of His love offering results in me being hidden 'in Christ Jesus' (Col.3:3)

So to conclude... Quoting He 2:1-3HCSB
"(I) must, therefore, pay even more attention to what (I) have heard, so that (I) will not drift away.

For if the message spoken through angels was legally binding and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment,

how will (I) escape if (I) neglect such a great salvation? It was first spoken by the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him."
(Changed into first person by me for clarity)

"and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ the righteousness from God based on faith."
(He 3:9HCSB)
Amen.

I have been a believer in Christ for many years. It has only been in the last three or four years that I have received greater insight into the Grace of God. This has injected me with energy to tell others about the blessed "rest" we have in Christ. Grace is not a theology but is a Person-- Jesus.
