Chess

And the King rules over all the earth, or the board. He scouts and recruits those he may think willing enough to stand with him in his epic fury against the opposing side. The two sides have battled for centuries, the contrasting color of white and black would now clash as titans of the game world. But let's examine the King's players, shall we?

First, is the subject to the king's immediate left, his queen. She rules over all the game with unlimited movement in her attempt to sabotage the plan of her enemies. She spreads fear over all, and intimidation is her key. But her flaw, nonetheless, is lack of fear. Ironically, it is the same sense causing others to stumble that inevitably will bring her own downfall.

Given the circumstances of an almighty queen, let's move to another more humble piece. It is the bishop to the king's immediate right that protects the far angles of the board. Cunning in his movements with unlimited space diagonally, he never seemed to gain the courage to move straight forward. But surely, he can protect the king to his left and right, along with his twin counterpart, but what of the front?

An opposite that may be able to fulfill the duties that the bishop cannot, are the King's warriors on the far corners of His phalanx, the rooks. Strong and powerful, they charge straight forward to give heed to the King's demands. How might they react to danger? Cowardice fleeting may be an understatement. Danger to themselves causes direct movement to the back of the line, sending signs of discouragement across the army. At least initial fear is far from their minds.

And the last of those to stand side by side with the king himself, are the knights. Tricky and devious men on horseback, almost as special operations units of the army; they set their course, charge, and then draw to the side. Making sure all is clear they move swiftly over their foes and defeat others. Proud and Haughty are the knight's names, and Death and Destruction are the names of the assassins that will overtake them.

But yet the pawn; he is without fear and at the front lines waiting for battle. His path is set and his first leap is great if wisely chosen. Sacrifice is made for the better of his army, and selfishness is far beyond his mind. For the king and his King, he nobly lays himself down in battle.

But yet even the king shall have his final days with his scores of battles, and His numerous amounts of planned strategies. Surely, he will meet his Maker. O yes, his Maker is equivalent to the King. For even the king of the battlefield has his King, with His all-seeing eyes. This King decides the fate of all, no matter how unjust or unfair it may seem. He controls the lives of each character and the role each of them may play. He chooses the importance of this role, and He chooses whether or not to use the particular piece in His master plan. So for the King of kings, which piece are you?
