Does The World hate You?

LEN'S LINES ------- A Little Religion On A Positive Note by Len Granger

The Gospel of Christ does not care about "tolerance" of sin but wants us to hear and understand the truth of our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When I think of what people have told me at times about Christians being "intolerant bigots" , it got me to researching just what God's Word the Bible tells us.

Too many churches today are trying to be politically correct and appeal to the postmodern culture we live in day by day. Searching the Bible I found where the Lord tells us not to be tolerant of the sinful nature. We read in the New Testament Book of Mathew where the twelve Apostles are instructed by the Lord as they go into the way of the Gentiles. Verse 14 to 16, " And whosoever not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust off your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."

Today, with the standards of lukewarm Christians and ministries that have moved away from the Gospel and are no longer standing on the Rock of Ages. Jesus Christ and his followers would be slandered as "intolerant bigots" Yes, Jesus is not tolerant of sin of every strip and we should call sin what it is and not accept or live with it. In the Book of John our Lord speaks to the adulterous woman, Verse 8:11, " ---And the Lord said to her, Neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more." So we read that the Lord is never-changing and did not tell the woman, "Go now and continue your life of sin."

It is true that none of us are without sin and I would also drop the stone in the sand as the Bible story tells what happened with the woman. We are commanded to repent of our sins. as Jesus tells us in Luke 13:3, I tell yo, Nay, but, except ye repent , ye shall all likewise perish." So the first step to repentance is to call sin what it is and not attempt to call it something else.

Even in the Old Testament Book of Isaiah we read were God tells us, Verse 5:20, " Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil, that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter." So if the world hates you for being intolerant of sin, then as the Lord tells us in His words over and over, we must be doing something right.

Trust this Sunday we will take the time to worship and honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the church of your choice.

God Bless America
