Give Me a Hope and a Future

by Steve Countryman
10/17/2016 / Christian Living

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This verse has to be one of the most popular verses in the bible.

It's a verse full of blessings. It's a verse that shows God's heart for His children. It's a verse that promises God's goodness in our lives. It's a verse of God's will fulfilled in and through us. It a verse that demonstrates God's love for us!

One part of this verse was made clear to me that I never really understood. "Plans to give you hope and a future". It was just part of the entire verse, just part of His blessings. But what does that really mean? During prayer time recently it was made known to me. As I was praying I asked God to show me, give me a vision of what His plans for me were. That's when this portion of this verse came to me. How can God "give" us hope and a future? Hope is part of faith. Faith in something that has not as of yet come to pass. Future is just that, future. Faith and future go hand in hand.

It is by God's vision of blessings for you that your hope and future are found. For Him to "Give" you that hope and future He has to give you His vision of what that is. Hope and a future is for us to have and to hold. Just knowing this little revelation totally changed my day! It made getting up to face the day worth while.

How can you have hope and a future without victory? Facing the day can be exhausting. It can seem relentless, overwhelming like beating your head against a wall. But knowing that God's plans are to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future WILL change how you look at each day!

John 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." Life more abundantly isn't for when you get to heaven. It is for you to have "a little heaven to go to heaven in". Abundantly here on earth NOW! Yes that is part of that hope and a future.

So when you pray next time don't always pray about the problems and troubles that you usually do, thank God for giving you your vision of hope and a future. Thank and praise Him all the time for answering your prayers! Because when you thank Him out loud you are DECLARING God's blessings in your life fulfilled! Father, give me your vision. Let me see the plans you have for me. Give me hope and a future! AMEN!
