Chill

by Carl Marshall
11/20/2016 / Christian Apologetics

Here is one circumstance wherein we are not in control. Having a chill is not a pleasant feeling but it usually is a feeling for pleasure or sadness; for instance the chill of victory; the chill of defeat. Chapter 11 in the book of Hebrews is a chapter filled with chills as we observe the victories that were achieved by faith. Observing the victories have boosted the present believer to carry on with the Word of God. Perceive then having a chill because of the victory we are about to experience. It is by faith. I enjoy such chill because of my faith in Christ Jesus. Though, one who lives by having faith in the Son of God, celebrating a victory may be short lived because of the evil one, who constantly interrupt our celebration.

Any task that the Son of God gives us, we are guaranteed a victory if we continue in righteousness and our faith. Endurance depends on those two factors. Jesus's faithful, delivers the message that comes from him to those who "hunger and thirst after righteousness" (Matthew 5:6.) The message to those who hunger and thirst after righteousness is the task.

Only the source in which we have faith can declare us righteous. Righteous is defined as having the following qualities

Being fair
Trust God
Believe Jesus is the Son of God; such a belief allows for the belief in Yahweh, his Son or both.

Notice the exclusion of the Holy Spirit. It is due to the only option God extends to us and that is to "honor the Holy Spirit." The idea that one who hungers and thirsts after righteousness is rewarded; they are rewarded because of their righteous acts. Before being filled one is justified. It is the prerequisite for being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Being one with God is the definition of righteous whereas, faith is the evidence that the kingdom of God does exist. We are guaranteed victory if we live faithfully in Christ Jesus whereas having faith in other source does not guarantee us victory. Any defeat experienced by the faithful in Christ Jesus is intensified due to evil spirits. This chapter may occur more than once in our lives because we wrestle against spiritual wickedness. However, victory is sometimes a result from defeat. At some point we overcome. During the process we grow in faith to understand more of the way of Yahweh.

The fact that even in defeat, one who is faithful celebrates victory. To God be the glory! Observe that in sicknesses and/or diseases chill begins an entire negative feeling and the suffering that follow. Just writing about it gives me the chill but whether death or life, the chill of victory is guaranteed. Not to live by faith is the chill of defeat. However, faithful believers get this chill because unfaithful believers are ignorant to the Word of God.

In summary, righteousness is the act of being righteous. Righteous, the task is complete. The ignorance of unfaithful Christians is unsettling for the faithful ones.
