expression of church

by guy miller
11/24/2016 / Church Life

Every culture and generation has a different expression of church.

What doctrines and practical works are vital for each different type of church to scriptural?

We all read the same book,
Yet strain for an image or a look.
From Uganda to Britannia,
We all fall for the religious propaganda

The religious look
We believe,
Proves the love of the book.

The early reformers
Was more than hyped up performers,
The social conformers
Was moved by these spiritual reformers.

Church faces changed through the ages,
The gospel of the cross
Has not been lost
Just often disguised
By the crowd that are lost,
And the man wanting to be a boss.

Church is the four walls,
As man's religion defines.
Placed within confines
Of traditional shrines.
From the architecture.
To the deco to become
A part of the furniture.
Man's traditions
Are all conditions.

The works and nothing but the full works
Is what is expected?
Leaving so many dejected
Subjected,
Or you will never be resurrected.

Church is often more
Religious tradition,
Cultural superstition
Like a religious condition
To rinse, lather repeat.

Manmade religion
An almighty tick list
A long list of don'ts
Without actually saying what to do,
Isn't it all still all about me?

Gods a God of do.
To be and to do
For me and you
To be free
To be all we can be.

Doctrines and theology.
Do they really make you all you can be?
It plain to see God created me to be just me.

Like ABC it easy as 123,
In true simplicity
Celebrating diversity
And individuality
God ordained unity.

Manmade denominations
Has become a game of domination.
Control and power,
In a religious free for all.

Is a church truly scriptural?
If it's not biblical?
With distortions of biblical proportions.
A self-serving gospel
For all to gain his portion.
Personal prosperity
Is the oldest depravity.
For a church to become scriptural,
It will have to be made simple,
Like I do.

The message of the cross,
Without it all are lost.
They took up there cross
And counted all of life's trinkets
As a loss.

Sharing was caring,
Loving in the streets
Was the true heartbeat.
Shoes of peace
Placed on their feet
These soles was made for walking
Stop all the talking.

For the church today,
In its many disguises.
Come out of hiding
And stop all the fighting.

The truth of the cross
Is a mystery no longer hiding,
The trinity is true divinity.
Came to live in you and me,
The church in all its make up
And dress up
Has made a real mess up.
The blood showed the love
The church is the family
In all its dysfunctionality
Stop thinking practically
Start seeing spiritually.

With churches to match every social class
With doctrine to suit every internal dispute.
Like political agendas it's time for a referendum.
The structure resembles,
A business infrastructure
Full of training instructors.
But the spiritual Olympics we all are missing.
Cant you see we run under the same colours.
Church models, Maslow's social models.

The doctrines man has created
Has caused division
With many suffering inflation
Up and down like deflation
Show your love with financial appreciation.
The purpose of church
Has been lost in the presentation.

Any biblical church
Is simple by design.
Like a natural flow
The whole body will grow.
Like life's natural ebb
No longer caught in that spider's web.

The church of acts
Was a church of acts.
Following true religion
No body looking for dominion
The message was the mission,
The mission was the message.

The work of the cross,
Is the works we have lost.
Loving the lost
Is the message of the cross
Saved by grace
In faith of the cross
God incarnate
Came to make the deal finite.

The church in simplicity
Is you and me.
When you are more than me.
Then we will just be.
The irony of true religion
Is to live at the cross,
To see you over me.
And just be.

A selfless life is a Christ centred life.
By doing His do's,
We don't do the don'ts.
Stepping like Christ
Allows us all to step to the same beat.
The simplicity of the do's,
Will see the true church through.
