LEN'S LINES -- A Little Religion On A Positive Note by Len Granger

The story of Christmas and the life of Jesus Christ, is a miracle from start to finish as told in the New Testament Gospel Books. They give us a detailed description of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and all who came to visit the young child. Also we read of how he died on the Cross ,was buried and rose on the third day, as He promised.

In the O. T. Book of Isaiah we see the plan and purpose of God down through the ages, it is like a miniature Bible. The first thirty-nine chapters ( like number of Old Testament Books) speak of law and judgement.. However, the final twenty-seven Books ( like number of New Testament Books) declare a message of grace and mercy/

The Prophet Isaiah ministered during the reign of four Kings of Judah, a period of over forty years. He warns that Kings and men will perish but some things never change, in Chapter 40 :8, " The grass withered, the flowers fadeth,; but the word of our God shall stand forever."They listened to him as he spoke of the coming Messiah who would be the Savior of all men.

The Book is like a Fifth Gospel as we read of the coming Savior. Chapter 40:11, " He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are very young."

God also told Isaiah how the Son of God Jesus would be treated by the religious leaders of that day. Isaiah 53:5 - 7 " But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of peace was upon him; and with his stripes we were healed. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."

We also read in Chapter 53-10, " Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief; when thou shall make his soul an offering for sin."

Our living, gracious, and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ had a very short life here on the earth. If we repent of our sin and ask Him to come into our life and save us, the Lord is there waiting for us with open Arms. As Isaiah told the people of that day about the Savior; let us accept the message today, before it is too late.

Trust we will all be in the church of our choice this Sunday as we worship and honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
